    Pros

The company try to help disadvantaged and vulnerable people which is admirable.

    Cons

Top level staff get good pay, while many lower level staff would be better off on benefits. Staff turnover in some divisions is very high. 24 hour shifts in some business areas mean there is no work life balance.

    Advice to Management

Pay a decent wage and you'll get decent staff, especially in care and support.

    Pros

The company itself is one that does some fantastic work in supporting people. The atmosphere at head office is friendly and inviting, and a lot of activities such as fundraising and sports teams are done to engage people.

    Cons

There appears to be a lot of new people joining the business, meaning it sometimes seems hard to find the right person to communicate with.

    Advice to Management

Communication between staff and managers are not always effective.

  3. It could be a great place to work...but not in it's current directorate

    Pros

It's easy to get to with good transport links to everywhere you want to go. The majority of the staff are very nice and friendly. The work is relatively light, stress free and can be completed by the majority of people with an ounce of intelligence.

    Cons

-An executive team made up of Eton/Private school alumni who have no idea of the lives their clients live. They are completely out of touch in that sense and this has shown on a number of occasions through backwards decisions and frivolous spending of clients money on anything but their homes or support
-Little career progression as the high money jobs are often sidelined for friends or colleagues before they are advertised.
-Directors bringing in their friends/girlfriends into high paying/responsibility roles over people that have worked at the company for a number of years who have infinitely more experience
-You can tell that the majority of your colleagues don't want to be there
-Often a "manager" will make a decision based on their experience (which often isn't very much) which effects the way you and your team work in 90% of the time, a negative way
-Seems to be a platform for wannabe MP's

    Advice to Management

Please go back to your land of commercialism and making "money". Home Group isn't about that, its about CARE & SUPPORT.

    Pros

The staff were great and loved working with the women within the refuge. Learnt a great deal about domestic violence.

    Cons

Hated the manager. Never priased you for the work you did. You could work your butt off, but it was never enough.

    Advice to Management

To be fair to the staff and less favourtism towards the manager from other managers. To appreciate the hard work that the lower level staff do and to be less snotty.

    Pros

There are lots of good people working for this company, and there is a good team atmosphere. There are plenty of job opportunities if you work in Head Office.

    Cons

The company seems to be going through a constant restructure, in my almost 8 years there I went through 3 of them. Staff turnover is huge, In the past 2 years around 75% of the staff in my office have left the company. Rates of pay are not the best, with certain jobs being paid considerably less than the same job with other companies.

    Advice to Management

There is a definite feeling of management not caring about staff amongst certain people, and the constant restructures are not helping with staff morale.

    Pros

Great knowledge of current market. Great management structure. Good work life balance and recognisition from senior management.

    Cons

Many smaller providers are snapping up local business for less.

    Advice to Management

Home Star awards need to have some localised variation for staff.

    Pros

Good pay and family friendly benefits

    Cons

Lots of people appointed due to who they know or being friends with higher management. Endless restructures which change roles but do not deal with the poor performers who get moved around the business. Trying to be all things to all customers rather than just making tenants stick to there tenancy agreement and offering value for money

    Advice to Management

Do a proper restructure and removed the senior to middle managers that have been in place for years and are appointing their pals who are not up to the job. Get people in with ability and start getting back to being an organisation that enforces its tenancy agreements rather than appeasing the customers that shout the loudest.
