I have been working at Home Instead Senior Care full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The bonds you form with your clients & their families. That's literally the only good thing about this job.

    Cons

Low pay. No raises even though I have been here for over 2 years & have outstanding reviews. No benefits. Office does not have family stick to contracts that are signed (providing food for live in caregivers, making sure live in caregivers get adequate sleep). Each office is franchised so they seem to have different rules.

    Advice to Management

Communicate with your caregivers. Pay more.

I have been working at Home Instead Senior Care full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They have a staff that trains you in caring for dementia clients and have very flexible hours.

    Cons

It is sometimes difficult to work a full 40 hours a week and there is little room for advancement.

    Advice to Management

Include the clients you will be working with when you post available shifts.

I have been working at Home Instead Senior Care part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I have flexible hours to care for loving seniors who appreciate our services.

    Cons

Sometimes, your available hours to work with senior clients don't work out with their service time. Difficult for consistency.

    Advice to Management

None, personal preference time when available to work.

    Pros

It is nice making a difference in seniors' lives. The hours are somewhat flexible.

    Cons

The pay is terrible. I made more working at McDonald's, and they don't cover the cost of gas driving between shifts. They constantly have issues with scheduling. I have had multiple times where they will tell me they need me to work a shift and then after I have rearranged my schedule for that shift, they will call to tell me they had already filled it. I have been scheduled to work at the same time as others, too, and ended up losing 6 hours worth of work after I'd already driven to the home and been working for a while. And they CONSTANTLY call to try to get you to pick up extra shifts. Most nights i receive 2-3 phone calls, an email, and at least one text. If you say 'no,' they are grumpy and rude about it. It is very poorly managed and sometimes almost impossible to plan your schedule because it usually changes 2-3 times every week. I would NEVER recommend anyone to work here. You would be better off working a fast food job at minimum wage, and by the time you pay for gas to get to all your different shifts, you would be making more, too.

    Advice to Management

Hire people that are competent at their job. The lack of communication is terrible. This is the most frustrating job I've ever had.

    Pros

    None, NONE, NONE, NONE, NONE

    Cons

Shadiest place I've ever worked. They go through office staff like crazy because they are terrible. Once you speak out about something that isn't right, they fire you.

    Advice to Management

Sell the franchise to someone else. You're the laughingstock of the Fresno senior care industry

I have been working at Home Instead Senior Care part-time

    Pros

You SOMETIMES get to meet very interesting people!

    Cons

Home instead doesn't care what type of environment you work in as long as they are being paid top dollar they will send you out to the most unmentionable places. They pay is HORRIBLE and there are no incentives worth taking a position with this company!

    Advice to Management

PAY MORE AND BE MORE STRICT AND ABIDE THE HEALTH CODE WHEN ACCEPTING CLIENTS WITH BAD ATTITUDES AND HORRIBLE LIVING CONDITIONS THAT YOU WOULDN'T EVEN WORK IN YOURSELF.
