I have been working at HomeStreet full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

At branch level, this job is fun, full of customer service, and never boring. There are always things to be done and issues to be handled. If you're opening new accounts or product referrals you get little bonuses in your paycheck which is always nice.

    Cons

It appears the company is slowly becoming more "Big Bang" than the family owned, local bank it has always been known for.

    Pros

The CEO is bringing in money, so that's good. Marketing can be amusing. Seahawks and Sounders affiliation are fun. The company pays pretty decent benefits, not top of the line but good for the front line jobs.

    Cons

Everyone is frustrated with the IT department bottlenecks in service. Multiple unintegrated platforms create lots of extra work. Poor communication from management, employees are not empowered, hr clueless about employee culture, excessive bureaucracy, small bank growing pains, IT unable to service departments.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Develop training programs that will help employees gain the job knowledge and skills to succeed at their jobs. Hire some qualified bankers and allow them to make decisions. Chose integrated applications. Align staffing resources with business priorities.

    I worked at HomeStreet full-time

    Pros

Senior leadership is very receptive and proactive towards providing a great product and great work environment.

    Cons

Still adapting towards their recent growth and the transition of becoming a multi state bank.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Some levels of senior management need to be coached up or out to provide better support for a larger company. Some are guilty of "thinking small".

I have been working at HomeStreet

    Pros

It is a small enough company with many things to do... which means the ability to wear multiple hats across many different roles. Company is growing, and new faces are providing fresh ideas and perspectives from the outside world.

    Cons

Roles and responsibilities are not always defined or clear. Some people have been at HSB for a very long time, and change to structure and process, is hard to implement.

    Pros

Not a factory bank; an employer that values your feedback and insight. Strong leadership that is honest and candid. The bank has a respectful name on the street. Overall good people who care about the future well being of the bank.

    Cons

    Glass ceiling; usual growing pains.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice
