ProsHealthy, well-managed Bank. Supportive managers, reasonable compensation. Good Benefit package (except no HSA), Relaxed, low stress work environment.

ConsLimited growth opportunities. Concentrated in real estate market. Compensation does not recognize cost of living sufficiently.

Advice to Senior ManagementDiversify target market; reduce reliance on real estate lending; review job titles and compensation.

Company in transition, stressful with ability to wear multiple hats

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsIt is a small enough company with many things to do... which means the ability to wear multiple hats across many different roles. Company is growing, and new faces are providing fresh ideas and perspectives from the outside world.

ConsRoles and responsibilities are not always defined or clear. Some people have been at HSB for a very long time, and change to structure and process, is hard to implement.

    Appraisal Staff (Current Employee)
    Seattle, WA

ProsGood work life balance, employer are very flexible on the hours, employee are allowed to come in and leave at their own set of times.

ConsVery little room for growth. Have seen very little promotion within the company.

Advice to Senior Managementmanagement is very counterproductive. They are creating problems rather than solving them.

    Poor Management

    Sharepoint Developer (Current Employee)
    Seattle, WA

ProsGreat co-workers and fun to work with

ConsPoor communication between upper management and middle management. Unclear deadlines. Will not work with you if you are not on-time, they will just let you go. Management only cares about themselves and not their workers. Goals are just stated and not followed through. It is an environment such as "Do as I say and not as I do" Pay is below market value.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to your employees as most of them are unhappy with the current management

Rags to Riches... glad they raised capital

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Seattle, WA

ProsNew regime is very interested in moving the company forward... things were changing for the better, but I opted to leave prior to those changes being made.

ConsThere were challenges based on the financial crisis, which led to stress and unpleasantness... many of the employees had been entitled, but I understand that most of those people have left the company.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep up the good work!

Be prepared to work hard and except very little in return.

    Executive Administrative Assistant (Former Employee)
    Seattle, WA

    Pros-Located in downtown Seattle.
    -I felt appreciated and respected.

Cons-For many years, the company was under a C&D which meant no raises and no fun. Company morale was low because everyone was worked to the bone.
-IT department made my life difficult. I felt like I couldn't be fully efficient in my position because of the how tightly they controlled everything.

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease bring back some fun to the company now that you're on the upswing of the financial crisis. The employees desperately need a boost in morale.
