I worked at Hometown America part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Hometown America has great ethics. working for them was like working with family. They care about their residents, and their employees.

    Cons

I can't think of any cons about working for this company. I've worked for 3 companies in the property management field, and Hometown shines brighter than the rest. I was very sad when they sold our property, and I was no longer an employee of theirs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The lowest man on the totem pole matters. A happy employee makes for happy residents.

I have been working at Hometown America full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Being welcomed to the company, being professionally trained, feeling as a part of the team from day one, future potential for advancement within the company, management is very encouraging, hard working co-workers who are excellent to work with, not having to wait LONG periods of time for benefits, great benefits and competitive pay!

    Cons

Uniforms, I work in the office and prefer business casual attire. It would be nice if there was a dress code, maybe certain colors allowed or something.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would like to thank the management, as this is one of the best companies I have worked for.

I have been working at Hometown America part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Exceptional co-workers/community manager, who are great to work with. My community manager cares about the well being of her employees and residents. Flexible hours, and a good decent pay.

    Cons

Opportunities for advancement. I'd be so much happier with more hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow part time employees to advance their amount of work hours.

I have been working at Hometown America full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The work environment is very relaxed, no micro-management. Its a small staff, we are able to work more efficiently.

    Cons

We sometimes lack communication on important issues. I don't feel there is enough appreciation for the entire staff/their roles.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would suggest more community events that were for the staff. Team building exercises bi-annually. Regional Events with the option for staff members to attend to also receive recognition.

I have been working at Hometown America full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Because even the highest corporate office listen when you need something if it goes that high. I have never worked for a company before that care not only for their employees but their family's alike.

    Cons

I really can not think of anything bad about the company. They are great to work for and I have never had a problem in the almost 4 years I have worked with them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When the Regional Manager is visiting the property that they be tuned in to that property and not do other things so the property and manager she/he is dealing with get their full attention.

I have been working at Hometown America full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Working for Hometown America has afforded me the opportunity to advance in my career. Because of our emphasis on succession planning I was promoted from maintenance supervisor to community manager. Our company culture places a high value on promoting from within and as a result my manager trained me to do her job. There are always advancement opportunities being presented and properties either being purchased or opening up due to promotions. I appreciate the opportunities provided me by a leader in the industry.

    Cons

I manage a property somewhat isolated from others in my region because of my remote location so I sometimes feel disconnected from the excellent team of managers in the region. We try to remedy this by meeting as often as we can for lunch or at trade-related meetings.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It is good to get your managers together for regional meetings to network and team-build. How about somewhere warm, say, in February?

I have been working at Hometown America full-time

    Pros

The people are helpful and friendly. It feels like a family working here.

    Cons

Taking over for previous manager proved to be difficult due to their lack of rapport with residents.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More training needs to happen on the front end of job placement. I was only given 2 days when I started and found myself foundering for a few months. At the end of the year my bonus reflected the lack of training and education I received when starting and throughout the rest of the year.
