    Pros

Nice and friendly co-workers. Flexible scheduling. Small company but growing! The Chicago office has a happy hour once a month. They also care about the health of the employees, so they offer different health challenges and rewards for participation. Employees in the community offices are friendly and seem to enjoy working with each other.

    Cons

Nothing drastically bad. Some people in the office have certain days to work from home. We have the technical capability to do so, at least the folks that work in corporate. It would be nice if everyone had that option whose duties allow for it, especially with the rising costs of commuting. Growth, consistent training, & employee evaluations seem be lacking also.

    Advice to Management

Communication to the employees about the strategy and goals for the company is lacking. Monthly or quarterly meetings/emails or something would be a good start. Also, because the company is growing it would be good to implement some type of project management practice to make sure projects get done correctly, on time, and on budget. This is true whether they be acquisitions or technical.

    Pros

Hometown America has great ethics. working for them was like working with family. They care about their residents, and their employees.

    Cons

I can't think of any cons about working for this company. I've worked for 3 companies in the property management field, and Hometown shines brighter than the rest. I was very sad when they sold our property, and I was no longer an employee of theirs.

    Advice to Management

The lowest man on the totem pole matters. A happy employee makes for happy residents.

    Pros

Being welcomed to the company, being professionally trained, feeling as a part of the team from day one, future potential for advancement within the company, management is very encouraging, hard working co-workers who are excellent to work with, not having to wait LONG periods of time for benefits, great benefits and competitive pay!

    Cons

Uniforms, I work in the office and prefer business casual attire. It would be nice if there was a dress code, maybe certain colors allowed or something.

    Advice to Management

I would like to thank the management, as this is one of the best companies I have worked for.

    Pros

Exceptional co-workers/community manager, who are great to work with. My community manager cares about the well being of her employees and residents. Flexible hours, and a good decent pay.

    Cons

Opportunities for advancement. I'd be so much happier with more hours.

    Advice to Management

Allow part time employees to advance their amount of work hours.

    Pros

The work environment is very relaxed, no micro-management. Its a small staff, we are able to work more efficiently.

    Cons

We sometimes lack communication on important issues. I don't feel there is enough appreciation for the entire staff/their roles.

    Advice to Management

I would suggest more community events that were for the staff. Team building exercises bi-annually. Regional Events with the option for staff members to attend to also receive recognition.

    Pros

Because even the highest corporate office listen when you need something if it goes that high. I have never worked for a company before that care not only for their employees but their family's alike.

    Cons

I really can not think of anything bad about the company. They are great to work for and I have never had a problem in the almost 4 years I have worked with them.

    Advice to Management

When the Regional Manager is visiting the property that they be tuned in to that property and not do other things so the property and manager she/he is dealing with get their full attention.
