I have been working at Honda full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Equality based environment. From top managers to even small workers all get the same treatment, Japanese culture followed. Salary is good. Good place to learn and grow.

    Cons

The rules are very strict but that too which are needed for the company. The working place is located 1 hour distance from the capital, which while doing up and down gives lot of fatigue. By the end of the day not enough energy to have fun.

  2.

I worked at Honda full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

. Very supportive people, the culture in general is very supportive
. Relatively modern with strong labour protection rules in place which are strictly adhered to
. Ample opportunities to contribute to the business and learn

    Cons

. Everything is useless if you are not well versed in the language
. Too much of unnecessary reporting

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create support structures for foreigner employees, perhaps a separate cadre for specially recruited personnel.

I worked at Honda part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Compensation and working with schedule. The staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. The breaks are also nice and there is a ping pong table and plenty of food prep/cooking equipment in the break room kitchen.

    Cons

The actual work is boring, tedious and tiresome. The hours aren't the best either but really no choice when in school.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management is great and extremely helpful.

I worked at Honda as a contractor

    Pros

Good co-workers, good company culture. Great engineers and designers to work with. I really enjoyed working with them.

    Cons

Long working hours. Sometimes difficult to work in multicultural corporate culture. There are not too many cons.

Current Employee - Engineer (Not "Honda ATS Engineer") in Tallapoosa, GA

I have been working at Honda full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Honda Benefits - Although the benefits at HPPG are the worst of all other Honda locations.
If you are a pathological liar and a hypocrite, this place is great for you.

    Cons

-No proper training, no management, strict work hours.
-No respect for individuals...You would thing people are nicer in the South..Not in this facility
-Terrible pay (low 50s starting, 10k less than other Honda plants)
-Your work starts at 7:30 and if you clock in at 7:30:00, you are late, must clock in at 7:29:59 or earlier.
-People switch around positions but the positions are not made available to everyone (bad reputation for the company)
-Management spend hours on how to save $40 on cleaning rags but will spend thousands for their work trips.
-Promoting process is disappointing...some of the managers don't belong where they are.
-You can become an " Honda engineer" if you stick around long enough...but really, a recent graduate from a reputable school will run in circles around you...although experience is bliss, right?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

-Do not bring in people from other plants and pay them 20% raise + stipend for doing so...they already make more than us and don't work as hard.
-Do not let managers talk down on their employees.
-Do not lead people on with promotion hopes.
-At least, try to treat everyone equally.
-Put an end to the wasteful Japanese influence. Actually go get stuff done rather than meeting about it 20 times.

In Honda in Japan, before meetings, decisions are already made among the upper management, so then why do they hold more meetings?...stupid, disorganized and wasteful

I worked at Honda full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

None. Ohio engineering center is a jail full of idiots.

    Cons

Bunch of freshly graduate engineering comunityes, with no understanding of vehicles design. They just blindly follow a process created 15 year ago, that is mo longer valid.
Expect to work 60 hours in 5 day with 40 hours pay.
Everithing is by the book . And the book is poorly done.
    Management flexibility is zero.
    Forget about the word Promotion.
Never ever unless your Japanese from Japan.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get a look on the outside of the carbord box you're living inn.
Engineers are not slaves. This is why manny leave in 3 years.

I have been working at Honda full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Competitive opportunity to make good money

    Cons

Difficult fighting fellow employees for customers entering the parking lot

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Come up with professional system so consultants are not blatantly fighting for customers. It's not a good look for the company/dealer.

I have been working at Honda full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Total compensation is pertty good because the benefits (both medical and retirement) are very good. Professional salaries are average for the region. Co-workers become a second family.

    Cons

Professional associates spend a lot of time in meetings and you need to be able to "fight fires" and "grow the business" at the same time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Acknowledge the shift in expectations for today's professionals and increase flexibility.
