I worked at Honeywell full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Flex hours, 9/80 schedule. Name recognition.

    Cons

Health benefits sub-par and expensive. Not avenues to transfer from one division to the other.

I have been working at Honeywell

    Pros

Opportunity to work with people all over the world. Remote working is ok and even encouraged

    Cons

Focus on quarterly profits at the expense of customer relationships and long term growth. Medical benefits are poor. Not a lot of respect for domain expertise gathered over many years by management which constantly changes

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Too many chiefs and not enough Indians to do the work.

I have been working at Honeywell full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good work/life balance, good coworkers, adequate tools to perform job well

    Cons

Too much time wasted on bureaucracy, limited upward mobility, low pay, health insurance quality deteriorated over time, zero salary increase for the last 5-6 yrs

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Survey employees directly and more often for feedback on immediate superiors, or risk losing the most productive people on the job. Gain more realistic feedback from the trenches before listening to the politicians from the tower.

This review is for the Honeywell Process Solutions division only -- people are good, compensation is poor

I have been working at Honeywell full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The people and team camaraderie is excellent. I've met many great people here -- employees and managers. The work flexibility and extremely casual and laid back environment is probably the most recognized perk here. Employees are allowed to work remotely, there's no strict work schedule, and attire is casual.

    Cons

The strategy at HPS is extremely focused on cost reduction. As a result, much of the work and manufacturing is now outsourced and employee compensation is extremely below market average (especially in Houston, TX). The 401(k) matching has been reduced and the healthcare coverage is not impressive. The result is plenty of employee turnover and some instability within the organization. One can expect to have a different superior annually.

Due to the outsourcing especially for the large and global projects, it is highly recommended to avoid working on these projects since the experience one would hope to gain will instead be gained by someone overseas. Local projects are recommended instead.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

HPS needs to increase employee compensation and benefits if they want to reduce turnover. HPS management is brilliantly executing their cost reduction strategy given the high quarterly numbers of late, so this advice will likely fall on deaf ears.

I have been working at Honeywell full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I am able to work a flexible schedule and have the opportunity to travel often. I also get along quite well with the engineers at my level

    Cons

The benefits are not very good and they appear to be getting worse every year. Upper management seems to be completely disconnected from the employees.

I have been working at Honeywell full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Vast amounts of process knowledge... old timers (some) willing to share with you.

    Cons

Salary Sucks... really bad. For a company of this caliber... its amazing how low the pay is compared to other oil & gas companies. Look out for your self because anyone above you will not hesitate to use you as the fall guy (politics alive and well).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pay you're employees better!...

I worked at Honeywell full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Technology and the product (Experion PKS) one of the best DCS around. Great exposure for a technical minded person. Good work culture. HPS has some of the best DCS engineers with them, a lot can be learned working with those folk.

    Cons

Junior Engineers are not cared for. Will be put in projects and roles without a plan or purpose of career growth and individual's interest. Very meager raises and performance benefits (hardly 2% per year)
