Cons
Promotions lagged performance and some hesitance to give without some consideration to time in current role.
Benefits being eliminated.
Hard to make a big career move into other aspects of the business from engineering.
Poor program managment.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to employees.
Pros
Great people and clost commute.
Cons
long hours in a global business.
Advice to Senior Management
Understand boundaries.
Pros
Stable industry and company. Diverse business
Cons
Not much growth. Recently delisted from the Dow 30.
Advice to Senior Management
Good training program. International exposure.
Pros
Lots of fringe benefits like discount tickets. I guess it is a great place to work if you are an engineer.
Cons
They would rather take the easy route of cuttting costs and shipping jobs overseas than do the hard work of growing the company.
Pros
Customer focus and orientation is very high; activities carried out are with end goal in mind. Fluff around the important things is kept to minimum.
Cons
Do not have much to add to cons. Only Con I can say is that certain aspects clarity in communication coud help the employees.
Advice to Senior Management
Not too much to add here too. But area in which if things can be better is if the policies for certain things are kept more transparent.
Pros
good pay
good benefits
great people
sound company
Cons
too many managers and sometimes too many people to get something done
Advice to Senior Management
don't over think too many things, and not everyone needs to be a director.
Pros
A big organization with lots of opportunities. Many smart and nice people to work with. Relatively good compensation and benefit package.
Cons
Short-term focused. too many re-orgs. A very complex and political organization. Some managers are not doing a good job to lead with vision.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep the organization stable. Choose capable mid-level leaders. Avoid reorganizing the organization too often. Motivate and recognize employees by what they do not what they say.
Pros
Working for a global company provides great diversity. This provides a wonderful learning opportunity and exposure to other cultures. Job stability for non-manufacturing employees.
Cons
Due to being a global company, numerous conference calls are held outside normal work hours. A large percentage of employees have been here over 15-20 years and are unwilling to change. Many jobs are sent oversees, laying off US workers.
Advice to Senior Management
When making outsourcing decisions, don't only look at the "bottom line". There are other impacts of these decisions that cost additional money.
Pros
great place for experience to go somewhere else
lot's of opportunity to see things most other places do not have
Cons
not conducive to long term growth
senior leadership is very closed minded in IT
mostly incompetent managers but there are some gems.
Advice to Senior Management
Get some consolidation in place
the company's IT could run very well and contribute to the bottom line instead of being a burden
