Pros
Good work experience
Great group of co-workers
Lower/mid level management site leadership does care
Industry premiere product lines - top tier performance
Cons
Benefits have deteriorated over the last 5+ years
Long term job security it questionable
HIgh employee turnover rate - difficult to keep good workers
Control of site is directed by off site management
Advice to Senior Management
Leadership being Morristown? How about focusing on making your North American sites the best they can be rather than looking at what can be gutted and sent to Asia. The direct labor work force in the US has been demoralized to the point of zero management credibility. Between wage freezes and the 10% reduction in 2009, most everyone is about 25% behind in purchasing power compared to where they were 5 years ago. Can you say 'wage slaves' anyone?
Pros
Work on very important products.
Cons
Moving towards having Engineering workforce outsourcing oversea's. Bennefits have slowly dimished since started working.
Advice to Senior Management
Look at hidden cost of using overseas manufacturing and engineering.
Pros
Engineering, Reputation and Stability. If you like working at a strong and reputed engineering corporation, Honeywell is good place to be. Honeywell is a very structured environment, and very diversified, which means if you are lucky you could end up contributing to different projects.
Cons
Too many managers. Compensation is average at best. Bureaucratic Management, who's only claim to fame is that they have stuck around long enough to get promoted. The work environment is very very officious and boring. No-one jokes around, there are meeting very early in the morning. Projects usually run past deadlines due to mismanagement.
No strong organizational commitment to innovation, but then that's the case with a lot of companies working in the same field as Honeywell.
Advice to Senior Management
Experience does not always translate into competence. Most of the managers at Honeywell are too old to be effective. They cant take doing things differently. Excel and Powerpoint are not a substitute for good decision making skills.
Too much diversification, from aerospace, automation, control systems, chemicals to knick-knacks (Power Presenter Plus 128 ) what exactly is the focus of the company?. Honeywell is no GE!
Pros
The vacation is good even to start. 2 weeks, 1 week Christmas shutdown and all the standard holidays.
Cons
Raises are consistently below the inflation rate even with excellent reviews.
Advice to Senior Management
Every new internal policy makes getting the job done more difficult. It's very frustrating.
