I worked at Honeywell as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

    It was a weekly paycheck.

    Cons

I was a sub-contractor there for nearly a year and I saw evidence of: poor management decisions, myopic focus on the unimportant details, and ludicrously bad treatment of most everyone employed there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your employees with some respect. Offer benefits to the sub-contractors that you always intended to hire in the first place and don't nickel and dime them. Lastly hire some management that has a clue on how to run a business and just isn't concerned with five sigma.

    I worked at Honeywell full-time

    Pros

The pay was okay. The work load was harder than normal.

    Cons

This job was very difficult compared to other QC positions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A training program should be created.

I worked at Honeywell full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Decent pay and benefits. Recognized name. Large company that retains an ok image in the public eye.

    Cons

Employee portion of Health care is rather pricey, especially for managers, as the more you earn, the more you need to pay. Perks have been cut back drastically over the past several years, and thousands of jobs continue to be outsourced annually, usually to low cost regions.
Raises have been very low the last several years for U.S. based employees.
If you have any degree of responsibility, expect long hours and forget about work/life balance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Honeywell is in a constant cost cutting mode, which is great for shareholders, but not so great for employees.
Penny wise and pound foolish is too often the modus operandi.

I have been working at Honeywell full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Top talented peers. Exciting technical challenges. Vast amount of opportunity to find the best job that fits you in Aerosp ascdif willing to live in phoenix, torrance, redmond, or clearwater areas.

    Cons

Upper management not in touch with reality since lots of measures they use are fundamentally flawed or not applicable. Continually expect free OT to make quarterly numbers. Not uncommon for 60 hr weeks for 3 to 4 month stretches. Beat up if only work 45 hours a month.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get your standard measures fixed. Reporting teams wasting 1000 of hours to status bad measures.

Former Employee - Software Engineer III  in  Oro Valley, AZ
Former Employee - Software Engineer III in Oro Valley, AZ

I worked at Honeywell full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Challenging work and good people as an individuals.

    Cons

Oro Valley location lacks leadership / proactive management, declining corporate presence, and advancement is limited unless you are willing to pay out of your pocket to relocate to the greater Phoenix area etc. Cultural is in print not practiced in reality / not healthy equating to employee's compromising their humanity either willfully &/or unconsciously, in part.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Skip level reviews, get around to listen to employees, conduct quarterly town halls, measure your management on soft skills specifically integrity / hold HR accountable. Did & do not understand sustained program failures - missing schedules / costs over year-over-year. CFO greater role in execution? Given Customers were not happy, why the sustained failures? Change of middle management is one possible course of action.

I worked at Honeywell full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Pay seems to be on par with the market. Good people to work with. Interesting projects.

    Cons

Difficult to advance career. Business units seems to be "siloed." A couple of managers admitted to be that the best way to advance your career at Honeywell is to gain experience with another company then come back at a higher level.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Break down the silos. Encourage employee advancement and employee learning opportunities.
