Pros
Good pay for the area. The work load is steady.
Cons
Rotating shift work. You never can develop a normal sleep pattern. Senior employees should be able to get steady day work. Company pits one employee against another by posting performance results. Supervisors don't listen to employees. When you have an idea how to make things better, they tell you you to just get production out the door. Equipment is not properly maintained, they just keep running production until there is a breakdown. They use too many temporary workers. Temporary workers don't care because they don't have a permanent job with the company.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to employees, not supervisors.
Pros
Work/Life Balance was good at some points. Senior Leadership was very good at communicating. Compensation was good, but the work load was sometimes too much.
Cons
The expectation for some positions were, please have a Masters Degree - we don't care if you know how to do the actual job, just have a master's degree. Seems very obsurd for those who had the on hand work experience and did the position extremely well, but did not have the Masters Degree.
Advice to Senior Management
Focus on mentoring more. Open lines of communication.
Pros
Many avenues for personal growth, salary is decent, work life balance is good. Hard work and competence is rewarded, you get to work with other good people.
Cons
Huge bureaucracy, hinders tactical performance of company, automating key services like HR and IT help desk is a night mare. Office space and equipment could be better
Advice to Senior Management
Pay more attention to how systems like SAP are being used, while we are a world class company, our business process discipline has much room for improvement, do a better job of communicating how pay structure and vacation progress as you progress at Honeywell
Pros
there is a low probability of bankruptcy
Cons
Average annual salary adjustments fall below inflation.
At risk (bonus) `pay is arbitrarily adjusted downward.
Advice to Senior Management
Your direct reports may not be the best information source on the state of the company.
Pros
Opportunity to participate in the challenge to grow in mature markets with inflationary pressures. Flat and lean organization pushes to perform with visibility at the highest levels.
Cons
Not the greatest magnet for investment $$ within the HONEYWELL family. It is the smallest piece of HONEYWELL pie with a large portion of its assets in high-$$ manufacturing locations of the world. Its global footprint is growing from a low base.
Advice to Senior Management
Drive execution on large projects including acquisition to build credibility for future investments.
Pros
There are many options for career development.
Cons
It can be easy to get lost in such a large organization.
Advice to Senior Management
Remember that it is not just about the bottoms line. Employees are people, and their lives and job satisifaction are important as well.
Pros
Strong talent in the company
Many opportunities for career growth
People work well together and value each other - comraderie is very strong at the business level
Career growth support is very strong; good succession planning opportunities
Alot of people who have left HON are in high positions in other companies
Committed to university recruiting from strong schools
Strong international business opportunities
Cons
Doesn't necessary fit into the overall Honeywell plan
Support can be very situational
Employee morale is waning - people are tiring of the work/life balance
Sometimes promote young bright people who are not ready for the key business leadership
Some of the businesses deal with highly hazardous chemicals that are difficult to manufacture
Advice to Senior Management
Value your employees who have contributed in the past
Develop you people and hold onto them
Look for ways to pick up the morale
Pros
If you have allied signal retirement it's OK. If you have Honeywell retirement don't plan on retiring. They try and make you think the benefits are good but they are just average
Cons
this company is just a revolving door for employees. I have seen more employees quit here in the last ten years than most companies probaly hire in twenty.
Advice to Senior Management
Ask employees why they all have bad attitudes. Why is everybody looking for a new job. they need to start giving a bonus or profit sharing to all employees
Pros
If you want to surround yourself with smart people and competent management while working for a company with good family values, you might be interested to apply here. The company is big enough that there are plenty of opportunities to move around to different technologies, though you may have to be your own driver. Technical people can grow well here, as there are opportunities for promotions strictly within the technical ladder. If you can do your job and you perform well, people will notice you here. Depending on your group, management can be flexible to very flexible with personal issues requiring telecommuting or going into work late.
Cons
Average compensation, above average benefits
Advice to Senior Management
Keep employee morale high. The company is growing, but it should not be at the expense of employee satisfaction.
Pros
A huge company with incredible potential for development and improvement… Honeywell is involved in a multitude of businesses from High Tech Gadgets to New innovative Textiles.. With the vision to create, who would not aspire to be even more creative than ever imagined in such a company, It has to be one of the most well positioned companies on the world stage with regards to manufacturing development in all fields. Working for such a giant gives you a sense of pride.. (Or does it?) The best reason to work for (UOP) Honeywell Specialty Materials I would say with out a doubt would be, if you are ambitious and have just left university, Honeywell will gladly train and shape you… (In their image)
Cons
In trying to be world leaders in every field possible, they have left behind the true essence of the business..
“The Well of growth and prosperity.” The little man is very much ignored…A well known and well respected organisation.. Honeywell seem intent on success, what ever the cost to it’s employees,
By employees I am not talking about the MD or even the MD’s personal secretary, I mean the employee on the ground floor who seems to be going from a culture of, “We are all equal and responsible for our own work.” To a culture of. “my instructions are laid out in such a way that a monkey could do my job.” If they had first managed to master the multitude of other activities that Honeywell now deem important to enable one to do their job of work in a satisfactory and timely manner.. What these new systems, 5S’s and SSP’s actually do is tie up employees from their primary tasks.. All well and good if you have a large workforce and the need to fill down time slots, not good when you have already been cut to the bone, something has to give, be that Profit, Quality, or indeed Safety….
