    Pros

Great people and culture. Pleasure to come in and work with the people in the office. Provide great opportunity to learn form some of the best in the industry. If you do well, you get paid well.

    Cons

On the development side of things, seems to be difference in opinions of what development thinks is best for the new agents and what experienced agents want to teach new agents.

    Advice to Management

    Create more continuity in development.

I worked at Hoopis Financial Group as an intern

    Pros

Gain affinity seeking skills by directly working with other people. Learn to master the art of persuasion by listening to people's needs then applying your knowledge as best you can to their situation. Superior access to the Hoopis Performance Network giving you the absolute best resources to quickly gain motivation and additional skills to do your job well!

    Cons

Calling is a must. You must make dials to be a next level successor. Learning how to structure and discipline you time will only happen when you consistently and habitually make your daily dials.

    Advice to Management

Hoopis Management has a unique set of skills that empowers the group in a way that cannot be beat by competing firms. The best training exists surrounded by the best talent in Chicago. Peter Hoopis and his colleagues are next to none when meeting the needs of family, the work group, and giving resources to meet your personal goals.

    Pros

Hoopis Financial Group hires the best talent which in turn facilitates a deep level of trust among staff. Staff are encouraged to develop their own career path according to their strengths. The office culture is fun and engaging along with dedicated to getting the job done. Open communication and honesty is valued and practiced.

    Cons

The agency is growing, and therefore has growing pains as we develop processes and find the best way to operate. This is not so much a con, as an opportunity to grow.

    Advice to Management

Develop a standard annual review process for staff. More action on "big ideas" as they are developed, instead of just talking about them, and develop timelines and due dates to put new policies and operations into place.

I have been working at Hoopis Financial Group full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Never micro-managed, emphasizes personal growth and development, flexible schedule, great benefits, overall culture is fun, high-energy, positive-yet challenging work environment. You always feel supported and management embraces new ideas.

    Cons

Growth of our office is rapid, so keeping up with the changes and adaptation necessary for smooth transitions can be frustrating at times. We will always be moving towards the direction of new and innovative and technologically savvy and with that comes change and more change, but all with the best of intentions.

I worked at Hoopis Financial Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The company wants you to build your business how you see fit. They support you in your endeavors to further your financial planning knowledge. Great company culture with fun quarterly outings.

    Cons

It's tough to get your business off the ground within financial services in-general. It's a 100% commission position. If you don't hit certain goals, certain compensation can be taken away from you.

    Advice to Management

I would definitely recommend telling your employees up-front what kind of contact they are getting into. There are ways that the company can come back to you to take compensation back from you. Neither they nor I knew this before setting up the compensation structure.

I have been working at Hoopis Financial Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Although Hoopis Financial Group is a general agency of MassMutual, a large fortune 100 company, they have done a great job at making the Chicago offices unique and a small business atmosphere. Every person that works here matters, and you can feel that in your everyday life. Pete Hoopis has a great plan for this agency, has proven himself to be successful and can lead the office in a positive manner. The staff and leadership are very experienced, that you know you are in great hands when taking on a tough career as a financial advisor.

    Cons

Pete Hoopis came over to MassMutual in 2012 and took over the Chicago agency. Within 2 1/2 years he also opened up a Deerfield, Naperville and Santa Monica office. This is a growing firm that is still testing out some kinks. Some people may look at that in 2 different ways. 1-think of it like a start up- trying new and different things to see what works, there are changes. 2-be part of something where you can help build a business, have the chance to voice your opinion and hopefully make changes for the better.
