Pros
We have the best managers ever and scheduling is very flexible
Cons
When business is slow you don't make any money
Pros
Good, fast money
Can be a good opportunity for aspiring models (if managers and their superiors like you)
Flexible schedule
Great way to build customer service skills
Cons
Rude customers
Incompetent management
The stigma that comes with working for the Company
Hard work often goes unnoticed by management
Promotions are not done fairly
Pros
Worked under nice VP's.
Fun, casual atmosphere
Pay was decent
People were pretty cool
Cons
No way your going to get ahead unless you meet 1 of 2 of the necessary criteria. I'll let you figure that out.
Will be stuck in same position forever
No room to grow professionally
You may be doing others work but don't expect to get the credit for it
Forget about raises or moving up in the company unless you are part of the elite that fits said criteria above.
Advice to Senior Management
Remember that people want to learn, grow, and move up in your company. Provide the tools to do so and stop making it an elite club where no one else has a shot.
Pros
Great modeling opportunities, tuition reimbursement, and you meet great people along the way. Some managers are awesome, some are terrible.. like any other job. This job pushes you to look your best.
Cons
Favoritism. It gets a financially, physically and emotion exhausting to look "perfect". You definitely meet weirdos and possibly stalkers. If you help management they end up taking advantage of it... like any other job.
Advice to Senior Management
Hire people you would want to work for or you would want your children or family members to work for.
Pros
The money is good if you know how to make it. Regulars can be VERY generous tippers. Every store is different, but I made very good friends with all the ladies at my store.
Cons
At this particular location the management was very disrespectful, one manager in particular. On certain nights like fight nights it can get pretty hectic.
Advice to Senior Management
Management should be respectful to ALL employees. Offer more opportunities for advancement with better pay. More flexible scheduling on holidays
Pros
Fun atmosphere- co-workers, managers and in general the cooks all get along like family. The money is good, the hours are not bad and typically (depending on your location) they are extremely flexible with schedules.
Cons
You do have to spend a decent amount of your own money on makeup, hair, nails and keeping up with the details. And there are of course the creepers but, at least at Hooters we can recognize them- at other places I've worked they are undercover.
Pros
customers are nice love them
Cons
mgrs are lost they bring personal problems to work and bully employees around then expect them to enjoy working for them
Advice to Senior Management
be nicer to employees
Pros
Quick way to make fast cash in a fun environment. Way better than the sterotypes have of it and the uniforms are cute and comfortable.
Cons
You have to suck it up when guys gauke over you, although you are never expected to put up with being disrespected. Plus, men will not stop trying to have a long conversation no matter how busy you are.
Pros
Half off on food.
Lots of eye candy.
Lots of TVs.
Like I said, okay as a last resort. Or if you're still in school.
Cons
Management performance is poor. They never last more than a few months to a year. Poor organization skills and communication between managers. Don't expect a raise, ever. They are supposed to do evaluations every 3 months, they NEVER do. If you do manage to get one, expect it to be around fifteen cents.
Average starting wage for a cook in Destin is 11$/hr. Hooters starts at 8$.
One of the lowest paying restaurant in town, but yet one of the busiest during the summer/football season. Owners are greedy and do not care about their employees.
Advice to Senior Management
Take better care of your employees and pay them what they deserve. The only reason I stayed around longer than the first month was because I enjoyed working with a few of the other employees. Other than that, there was nothing to keep me there. You pay your new employees lower than just about every other restaurant in town. I could go to McDonalds down the street for the same pay, less work, and more hours.
