Pros
Wanted to work within the Healthcare field and possible career mobility
Cons
the benefits are not up to par and there is no training for new employees.
Advice to Senior Management
having a standard training for every new employee to obtain a basic knowledge of the company is essential and will bring morale up to par. Communicate with employees and middle management about potential changes. and Most important of all, follow through with putting the members first in major decisions.
Pros
The pay is fair if you have the degrees and/or experience.
Location is near public transportation.
Cons
Management doesn't seem to care about its employees.
The health benefits are surprisingly high for a health insurance company.
Currently, there is very low potential for advancement.
Advice to Senior Management
Do something to improve company moral. People do not have the same sense of pride to be working for BCBSNJ.
Pros
The company has great benefits and a convenient location.
Cons
Low morale ithin the company, little room for career advancement, very unprofessional environment
and employees need to pay for parking.
Advice to Senior Management
Be more involved with the day to day activities of your department
Pros
Horizon health as an organization has a lot of potential and could be a good place to work with some changes. In terms of opportunity, Horizon has contracts all over the country and in various settings including free standing and hospital-based. The company also has excellent propriety systems that enhance the onsite manager's ability to know how their program is doing at any given time as well as to provide feedback to the client in an organized and professional manner. The onsite managers with Horizon Health are mostly very competent and capable individuals that have the ability to support each other when needed, although that is not something that the company encourages.
Cons
Horizon Health has the potential to be an excellent employer, however, with the way the company is currently being managed, it will be surprising if they are still in business four or five years from now. They are top heavy and employ regional supervisors that spend more time substantiating the existence of the thier own positions than actually doing anything meaningful to support the organization, the clients, or the professionals they are supposed to be supervising. A lack of integrity from the top down is probably a good way to describe it. The absence of a true corporate mission that is based on principles such as honesty, follow through, service, and loyalty hurts the company and limits its ability to be the leader of the pack in terms of a behavioral health management company.
Advice to Senior Management
Who is William J. Marino? Mike Saul runs Horizon Health and Joey Jacobs of Psychiatric Solutions (the parent company) is the CEO and a substantial share holder.
You need to make some changes or your company is not going to be around for the long haul. Take a good look at the feedback your are receiving from your clients and take visible and measurable action on that advice. How many programs have you lost? How many employees have left the company? Take off your blinders and look closely at each region - it shouldn't take long to realize where you are bleeding. Do you really need RVPs? Why not transfer oversight responsiblities to certain onsite directors and administrators? For instance, one program administrator could also be responsible for several other programs in an area (maybe within a days driving distance from their own program). In eliminating the RVP, you would realize a cost savings in salaries and travel expenses. You might also see a significant increase in the quality of the feedback you receive from the field. You could then use this information to make changes that strengthen the company as a whole. You might also consider developing a top notch marketing team that would be responsible for selling programs. This would be far more beneficial and cost effective in the long run.
Pros
The best reason is the Sales Compensation.
Cons
Employees have to pay for parking.
Advice to Senior Management
My advice would be that important information should be share with the employees as soon as possible.
