I have been working at Horizon Restoration

    Pros

The company has the inside track on the insurance restoration business. The internal processes are well managed which allows constant low margin cash flow. The staff is well trained with access to modern equipment, company vehicles, and phones.

    Cons

The insurance companies control valuation of construction costs and limit profit margins. Owner's constantly are looking for unwarranted benefits. Long hours are expected. Work crews are on call 24,7. It was difficult to manage cost overruns and maintain customer satisfaction.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work to maintain a 40 hour work week or pay overtime. Work to prevent cost overruns by creating realistic expectations for the customers.

I worked at Horizon Restoration full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

A Costco membership employee benefit. The location is also convenient, and there is not much traffic to deal with right around the office.

    Cons

Negative work environment where intimidation and bullying by all levels of management is the status quo. I was hired for one position, and ended up being forced to fill in for other positions and departments that I was neither qualified nor compensated for. There is no consistency in policies or management - I had five different managers in less than two years. The lack of professionalism in the leadership at this company is nothing short of astounding.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You will get much more out of employees by being positive and encouraging leaders instead of bullies. Reward and nurture talented employees instead of crushing them.

I have been working at Horizon Restoration

    Pros

Direct communication with ownership and executive team. Some perks (for upper management), and ability to work within a state-wide/multi-branch environment. Open communication supported.

    Cons

Very aggressive and often intense culture. Lack of strategic direction from upper management within a constantly changing environment. Long hours expected. Lack of balance. Intense management style. Shallow communication of expectations. Lack of defined review schedule.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Define expectations for every job and/or function within the company, along with a more concrete and helpful review process. Additionally, focus on motivation within the ranks as a primary means of increasing job production. Inspiration and buy-in could move employees more than fear.
