    Pros

Much of the staff is fantastic - many coworkers at the working level were wonderful, hardworking people. For the most part, customers were great as well. Great community-serving programs.

    Cons

Full time and part time managers receive little to no leadership training, or task-based training. Upper-level store leadership appears out of touch with store attitudes and general morale. Raises and recognition are insulting. No desire to grow leaders.

    Advice to Management

Consolidate cash-handling policies in all the stores, train managers, and RECOGNIZE your high-performing staff at ALL levels.

    Pros

Great place to work. Managers and people are fun to be around! Schedules are crafted to suit your needs to the extreme!

    Cons

I believe that Hornbachers' could definitely do a far better job at more fairly compensating their employees, however they always seem to be hiring and people keep applying so to each their own!

    Advice to Management

Compensation re-evaluation is needed, leadership is good, company tolerance is great. Love this place, except for the shaft when it comes to pay.

  6. Good high school job

    I worked at Hornbacher's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

nice coworkers, food discount, easy to learn quickly, can transfer from front end to different departments easily when spots open up, etc.

    Cons

awful assistant managers, poor scheduling, boring job in its self, lots of standing and lifting, lots of opportunities to make mistakes that you will get reprehended for, pay raise system is subpar, etc.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees better, and maybe you would get less turnovers.

Long hours at times with full time work and tiring repetitive work.

    Pros

    1. Good way to gain experience to get better jobs in the future.
    2. Many different departments to choose from.
    3. Feedback was give on a regular basis.
    4. Raises were regular and pay was fair for the level of work.

    Cons

    1. Let's be honest. You're a cashier and that sucks. Long hours on your feet dealing with grumpy customers
    2. They VERY RARELY give you all the hours you ask for.
    3. You're working with a bunch of high school and college students (although that might be a plus since you could end up working with your friends).

    Advice to Management

Sometimes your rules are silly. No gum? Sometimes you floor managers are gossipy and childish. Deal with them. Sometimes your employees are so high on pot they don't know what's going on. Be aware and involved in their work. Overall, management does do a good job and trying to connect with workers and I'd say Hornbachers is a great place to work and shop!
