I worked at Horseshoe Casino Hammond full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Most training provided for entry level positions. Compared to other Indiana casinos, Horseshoe Hammond is one of the nicer properties. A small fitness center is available on property.

    Cons

Caesars Entertainment is in bankruptcy, so corners are being cut wherever possible. Many employee amenities have been scaled back, such as the employee lounge and cafeteria and the benefits packages have been scaled back. Pay is generally less than other area casinos, such as Rivers and Ameristar.

    Advice to Management

It seems that employee performance is being scrutinized severely at a time when staff would most benefit from additional training and positive reinforcement.

    Pros

If you're looking for a job in Northwest indiana, they are always hiring. The money is decent.

    Cons

You will always be a number, no matter how hard you work and how loyal. You can be replaced easily with a blink of any eye. It's lost its Binion roots.

    Advice to Management

Put yourself in your employees shoes, be empathetic to them. Understand that people have a life outside the casino.

    Cons

Working Holidays, No Union, Hard to get PTO for the days you want, weekends are always taken. Ignorant guests make the job a headache. Attendance policy is bad, they want you to live there.

    Advice to Management

    Lighten up on the policies

I worked at Horseshoe Casino Hammond full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

None that I can think of.

    Cons

The management doesn't know what to do. None of them talk to each other. They will fight unionizing tooth and nail (even though they need it). They need to go through their heirarchy and start over. A lot of sexual harrassment and affairs going on.

    Advice to Management

My advice to management is to quit and go home.

    Do not work here! Favoritism!

    Pros

We get food that comes out of our pay checks for lunch. There is a reward system for employee's to get what they want with points. Best paying job for part timers.

    Cons

There is too much favoritism. You get promotions and full time based on if management likes you, or not. It doesn't matter how hard you work they will find reasons to not give it to you. They like to hire in New employee's instead of promoting with in. We just had a job fair for jobs other employees applied for. You can only get ahead with the right personality, looks , or enough brown nosing. This job wants you to unrealistically dedicate your life to it. My schedules are so random with in a week I'll b working morning one day and night the next. Even through they want you dedicated they WILL fire you, or lay you off, because of a renovation, or you make too much money. Management isn't safe they just let go of the marketing head's. Some management give employees false hope for a promotion, or promising fairness. Most of the unfairness in the departments are the same no matter were you go.

    Advice to Management

No advice. They already know all of the what their pulling.
