I have been working at Hospira

    Pros

With the right management you finally get noticed and can advance. People that suck up have gotten their way in the past. New management can see through this.

    Cons

New Quality personal are the least trained and are making too many important decisions. Management doesn't always listen to the common employee.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Listen to the experienced people.

I have been working at Hospira

    Pros

Work-life balance is awesome, base pay is legit, most of the people are great with the exception of senior leadership excluding Mike Ball, the CEO.

    Cons

    Commission. Commission. Commission. Commission.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stock options for employees would be a start? A better commission structure would be better given that we didnt have any product to sell for over 18 months due to the import ban.

I have been working at Hospira full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great team - from leaders to co-workers. Good location, nice buildings, pleasant campus. Flexible scheduling. Good benefits. A lot of projects where you can grow.

    Cons

Unclear career path. Uncertain future. Communication is sometimes lacking. Certain areas have too lean of a staff to support their activities which can sometimes influence morale.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be transparent when communicating. Be honest and helpful with providing guidance for career pathing. Pay attention to group morale and make efforts to maintain high levels before it starts to slip.

  6. Good people. Interesting job, but old technology.

I worked at Hospira full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

The group I worked with practiced excellent team work skills.

    Cons

The Company was not at all cooperative with third party consent decree recommendations for bringing their company into GMP compliance, resulting in the close down of their plant.

Former Employee - Environmental Quality Scientific Technician II in Austin, TX

    I worked at Hospira

    Pros

A lot of overtime, good people, a lot of independence.

    Cons

unless you're hired on directly vs going through the jelly scientific staffing company it sucks. Minimum of 6-8months of working before conversion and 1000hrs have to be met. No access to benefits, pto or vacation pay.

This is a production company doesn't matter how much is going on that day or if anyone has called on you get the work done even if you have to work 13+hrs
Undesirable shifts and slot of manual labor for a science job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work for your employees as much as they work for you. A show of appreciation outside of Hospira bucks and a cheesy good job team emails from the ceo would be appreciated.

I worked at Hospira full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Regular work from home days, flexible schedule, a lot of nice people, convenient location, cross-training if you ask for it.

    Cons

Poor management, small raises, no bonuses, hiring freezes, a lot of cutting corners to save money. They make you empty your own garbage!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Rely less on corporate buzzwords and micromanaging. Trust your employees, give them the credit they deserve. Take the time to understand your employee's responsibilities and job functions.
