Good Place To Start As New Nurse

Registered Nurse (Current Employee) Houston, TX

ProsGreat work environment. Coworkers are like family. Fair pay. And yes, most RNs at HCA are ADNs but they are darn awesome REGISTERED nurses. They took the same test as BSNs
to get their licenses. They reimburse for college if you want to advance your degree.

ConsHealth insurance is no good. They hire new nurses all
of the time and don't utilize them. Understaffed.

Advice to Senior ManagementPut more nurses on the floor. It's not safe to have a high
pt load. Maybe our patients would be happier then.

To much work for staffing level. Poor work/home life balance.

    Controller (Former Employee) Houston, TX

ProsComplete benefits package (but not a very good package).
    401K has a good match

Conshorrible medical insurance and you must use an HCA facility; very little room for upward mobility; low pay. It all about money and working the staff to death.

Advice to Senior ManagementIt's easy for upper management to be happy as they have hugh salaries and bonuses. The rest of us are just trying to pay the bills.
