I have been working at Hospital Corporation of America full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Ok job. The facility has been updated with high end technology. I have a set schedule 3 days a week. Time off policies is a joke.

    Cons

Average compensenation and policies seems to only apply to certain people. Management staff is young and lack experience. Need more employee education.

I worked at Hospital Corporation of America as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

The internal audit department is very team oriented, and has great management to set the tone at the top. Hospitals are going to be where people are, so the travel spots are usually pretty good. Great work-life balance and culture of the company.

    Cons

Work can sometimes be repetitive and mundane.

HCA was pleasant at times, but they leave much to be desired in terms of upper management/employee communications.

I worked at Hospital Corporation of America as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

Training was thorough, and compensation was more than adequate for a contract position. Direct team leads were very friendly, yet absent for the most part. There was a great degree of freedom for coaches to interact with clients.

    Cons

As with any large corporation, this company seemingly values the bottom line rather than employee well being, though they reportedly encourage team work and open communications.

I worked at Hospital Corporation of America full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

They have a excellent benefits package, friendly atmosphere and flexible work hours. Overall it is very stable company and the exceptations are very consistent.

    Cons

For some people, there are many chances to advance for others no room to advance for others management has their picks if you aren't in good with management you don't stand a chance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They need to show more appreciation for there employees. Should require management to take diversity training. They need to help groom employees weakness to make it their strengths. They don't inform employees what they need to do to move forward. The company has outside firm to do employee survey but you never see any results. They don't value the employees that are over 55. They don't offer an affordable retirement package for your medical. I feel they should pay the same for active and retired employees.

I have been working at Hospital Corporation of America full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

HCA has unrivaled reach and scope in healthcare which means that when you can make improvements, you can really make a difference at a national level. HCA has a very steady environment where moderate competence can ensure prolonged employment and eventual career advancement.

    Cons

The size of HCA combined with the particularities of the healthcare industry make progress and improvement difficult. In addition the steady work environment leads to lesser skilled individuals remaining and eventually being promoted while more skilled individuals leave for more progressive organizations. Overall, entrenchment can be a big problem.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should focus on infusing key technology areas with younger blood and pursue the adoption of cloud technology more aggressively in order to bolster weaknesses in infrastructure for supporting software development.

I have been working at Hospital Corporation of America as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

Steady employement if they don't stress you out

    Cons

horrible place to work.. Rigid, inflexible environment, tethered to Communicator. Initial Job description does not reflect you real job role. Basically glorified "Help Desk" and "Support"Constant worthless meetings. Female Bosses need management training. Manage employees like gestapo. Very little diversity when it comes to African American Males..

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get involved with all levels of lower level management, especially application development and support. There are too many managers and not enough employees.

    Pros

It is a very laid back culture at HCA. You get to work with new technology and very smart people. The leadership team is very understanding and laid back. If you are trying to decide where to start your career, this is a great place.

    Cons

No bonuses and raised are based on percentage of current salary. You need to make sure you get a high starting salary.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The only advice is to work on competitive salaries compared to the market.
