    The Downward Spiral

I have been working at Hospital Corporation of America full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The teamwork & interaction between the Nurses, Physicians & support staff has been nothing short of outstanding until very recently.

    Cons

HCA's Charting in Meditech is substandard. Physicians & Nurses alike have openly stated that it is not conducive to providing quality care to patients & that it simply isn't safe. The upper management have cut staffing, cut pay & appear to have an "increase profits now & cash out" corporate mentality. The adoption of an ancient charting system & the recent changes in staffing are a huge warning sign for current or future employees. It appears HCA is no longer interested in providing high quality care for patients or taking care of its employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It's only a matter of time until something dangerous happens and someone gets hurt. It's very easy to see how busy your staff is (the RFID productivity badges are a dead giveaway). If your goal is to eventually file for bankruptcy because you've lost a big lawsuit due to gross negligence, then you're on the right path. Of course those hard working employees who are too busy to see beyond their weekly paychecks will be the ones who are hurt the most. Shame on
    HCA, KKR & Bain.

I have been working at Hospital Corporation of America full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Ok job. The facility has been updated with high end technology. I have a set schedule 3 days a week. Time off policies is a joke.

    Cons

Average compensenation and policies seems to only apply to certain people. Management staff is young and lack experience. Need more employee education.

The internal audit department is very team oriented, and has great management to set the tone at the top. Hospitals are going to be where people are, so the travel spots are usually pretty good. Great work-life balance and culture of the company.
