Houston Methodist hospitals, my employer for over 16 years, is a top notch place to work.

I have been working at Houston Methodist full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

I care values, genuine concern for our patients, their families, and for each employee. A spiritual place for healing mind body and soul.

    Cons

As a nurse, long and physically challenging 12 hour shifts have been my greatest challenge, especially as I have been doing this full time since 1976. Imagine being a hospital nurse for 38 years!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Salaries for nurses at the Sugar Land location are not as competitive. As they need to be. Also, for a nurse who has stayed with Methodist for 16 years, my annual salary increases of average 1.5 % have not even come close to keeping up with inflation.

I have been working at Houston Methodist part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Very warm environment to work, caring people around, Fertile soil to grow personally and professionally. Most of the managers are compassionate and willing to adjust the schedule to balance between the personal and professional life.

    Cons

Salary should be comparable to other places around

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Weekend differentials, better insurance etc. can be some of the things which should be considered for improvement

I have been working at Houston Methodist full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    Friendly co-workers, bonuses, great benefits

    Cons

Not as much room for growth like they promise. Once in a position it's yours unless you vocally admit to wanting to move forward. Hard work isn't recognized all that much.

I worked at Houston Methodist full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    State of the art hospital

    Cons

was hired there from 11th day they started bothering me because they were expecting me to work as 40 yr experienced RN they told me they dont have anytime to train me they need someone working full flash right now since they need it Urgent

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

if you cannot train do not hire, make comparisons on same standard,a 2 year experienced RN cannot work as 40 year exp RN,

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook
