I have been working at Huawei Technologies full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Global company and has a lot of growth opportunity to learn and to advance. The company has good benefits and pay is good. Very result oriented company so a good performance employee can be recognized and advance quickly.

    Cons

Tight HQ - China control on all processes and procedures. Lack of planning and results in a lot of work and fighting fires. Not so work-life balanced.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Localize the process in each region and decentralize the management.

I worked at Huawei Technologies full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Huawei has a great leader, Mr. Ren, although he is not young now. Career opportunity is great if you have really good ideas and know the way how management system works and how Chinese works. Almost everybody is working hard. Lots of opportunities to develop your abilities of multiple domains. Huawei is a company owned by employees -- you contribute more, you get more in the long run.

    Cons

It's hard to get balance between work and life. To really get along with the company culture is pretty hard for a western employee.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More open and ready to accept new ideas.

I worked at Huawei Technologies as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

The department I was in was very open and enthusiastic. Variety of projects and relatively interesting work. Lots of communication with other groups.

    Cons

Other departments seemed filled with bureaucratic issues, some of which carried over during my stay.
The company can feel very corporate, and likes to pit projects against each other to increase internal competition.
The logo looks like a ripoff of the NBC logo.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pitting parts of the company against each other is not necessarily beneficial to growth.

I have been working at Huawei Technologies full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    -good benefit package
-brand is relatively under-developed in the US so good time to gain experience in building it from scratch
-co-workers overall are hard-working and friendly people

    Cons

-pay is very low compared to other telecom companies
-everything is micromanaged from China; US division has little say in what to do with its own business; very bureaucratic
-no sense of direction on where the company is heading to
    -bad products, poor service
-you're expected to work around the clock
-employees are not assets, just robots to get the work done, trust me, you'll feel VERY STRONGLY about this
-no career advancement nor training; the same people kept on getting promoted while the rest remain at the same position for 3-5 years before they decided to not waste their time here and either quit on themselves or get laid off
-the company is deteriorating because the US government will not allow it to thrive
    -performance rating is a joke

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The company will not go anywhere under the Chinese management. Either employ US talents and learn to thrive in the US market, or just quit the market altogether.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
