I worked at Hubbell full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Very close knit company that was like a family. The company functions kept everyone close. Very fun while it lasted.

    Cons

The Euro is causing the company to fall. I felt betrayed by the fashion in which they conducted business. Very unprofessional.

    Pros

Room to move around at your same level

    Cons

Few jobs to move up in and they are all taken by white males who have been with the company for 20+ years

    Advice to Management

    Shake things up

I have been working at Hubbell full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Hubbell is a conservative company and has tried, in the past to avoid layoffs. The quality of management varies, the benefits package is quite competitive and the salary is usually at the median range.

    Cons

The climate is changing and the company is becoming more bureaucratic. They are doing more outsourcing and consolidating of manufacturing, even though many of its companies make vastly different products. I'm not too optimistic about Hubbell's decision to outsource IT to support its 6,000+ users, across Canada, US and Mexico.

I worked at Hubbell full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The people who work here are dedicated and knowledge due to the long term service. Products and services really are top notch in the electrical market and consistent innovation is the goal from customer service to the top.

    Cons

Being a large corporation with continuous growth through acquisition it can be cumbersome to be promoted. Even after being in line for several promotions, the wait is very long and this can be frustrating. Management likes the to use the phrase it will happen in "Hubbell Time". Pay is not the greatest but also not the best.

    Advice to Management

With the change in CEO I felt like the company is becoming even more bogged down. Make decisions at the top and implement them instead of treading water.

I have been working at Hubbell full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

If you are in management, you have a good deal of autonomy. Depending on where you are located there may be flexible scheduling. Benefits are good but getting more expensive like everywhere else. The company is really growing; many acquisitions. I've been able to hone my skill set for the 9 years I have worked for Hubbell.

    Cons

If things change in your department, the answer is usually you end up working more hours with little appreciation. This is a very top heavy company and top management seems out of touch with the thousands of employees who put the dollars on the bottom line. Also very much a'Good Ole Boys' club. The change in CEO did not change that.

    Advice to Management

I hope leadership comes to realize the need to grow their employees along with the enterprise. If you keep acquiring more companies, you need to hire more people. Top leadership might consider actually talking to the 'Little people' when they visit facilities instead of acting like royality.

I enjoyed it very much. I felt so confident that I moved my family from the west coast to the west coast. No regrets.

    I worked at Hubbell full-time

    Pros

This is a company that stands behind the product 100%.

    Cons

Company had to downsize in certain networks which I was effected.

    Advice to Management

Please speak to those persons who built the company and have compassion on them even while making tough decisions.
