The environment of the company is great. All around great co-workers and managers who are trying to help you in anyway they can.

    Cons

It got slow at times to the point where you wanted to do work, but with the pending merger they are in a bit of a holding pattern.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management is great. They do a great job of mentoring and know what to and what not to pass down to younger people.

    Pros

Benefit is great. Its a saving bank no sale goals its stress free kind off. If you looking for a place to grow its the wrong place to start. If you smart, assertive and goals oriented is not a good place to work.

    Cons

    Don't promote diversity and education

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

great company to work for benefit wise. Upper management don't value college graduate. HR is not involve in the hiring and promoting process which make it very difficult for people to get promoted. Diversity in not important.

I worked at Hudson City Bancorp part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The hours are the best in banking. during the week they close at 4:00 PM and in Saturdays they close at 1:00PM. They also provide the full-timers with the opportunity of receiving college credits paid by them. They also pay for their employees medical coverage in full.

    Cons

Their salaries are lower than in other banks. They do not pay over-time to their full-timers. Two years ago they were sold to another bank, so right now everything is pretty much in the air until they finally take over.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Next time there is a hurricane, and some of the branches are without any power, they should think a little more of their employees welfare, and not have them come in to the branches just to hang-out in the dark, without heat, electricity or the alarm system not working, just so the customers could see that everyone was there. This at the end was worst, because they became very discontent when the entire staff present couldn´t even take a deposit, never mind cash for them a check without computers and a closed vault.
