Current Employee – been working at Hudson Valley FCU full-time for more than a year
Pros – I really enjoyed working here. I think it's still one of my favorite jobs that I had. The hours were always reasonable. You work between 8-7 M-F and they have Saturday hours from 9-5. I don't think it's too awful. The management was really great. From the supervisors to the call center manager, I have to say I was really impressed. They ALWAYS give you feedback in some type of sandwich approach. Even when you might not be performing too well, they compliment something. The sales approach isn't aggressive here. Yeah, you have to push things, but as long as you offer, you won't get spoken too. Maybe some kind of coaching which is a little annoying, but they aren't going to bother you. GREAT training (three weeks!) Most important, wages are fare.
Cons – Breaks are cancelled when the call center is busy (always).
You're graded on all of the call stuff. How much time you're on a call, hold time, answer time, if you went to the bathroom. Kind of annoying how much you're watched.
VACATION. Like the other person on here said. If you aren't there the day vacation time opens up, don't plan on taking a vacation. Even if you ask a manager after, they probably won't give you time off. It's awful.
Monitoring of phone calls/screens. Incredibly micromanaged, but for some reason it didn't bother me too much.
NEVER a break from phone calls. You might get a 5 second break in between calls, but it is ALWAYS busy. Prepare for high stress and the occasional miserable member. However, coming from another bank I have to say that HVFCU members were usually quite nicer.
The new point system - Call out, late, etc. gets you points to get fired. Granted, you have to be sick/call out often, but it's still nerve racking.
Advice to Senior Management – Do something about vacation time. It really stinks to not be able to take one week off or even a day off when you need it.

Former Employee – worked at Hudson Valley FCU
Pros – Good Benefits
Co-workers are amazing
They give you PTO time
Cons – PTO time is difficult to use because you are punished if you use it. You are granted 3 points for a call out and after 5 call outs over a calendar year you are put on a "verbal warning" which basically means no promotions for 6 months and a crummy score on your annual review. If you have kids, THIS IS NOT THE JOB FOR YOU! If you have elderly parents, THIS IS NOT THE JOB FOR YOU! If you are a human that gets sick, THIS MAY NOT BE THE JOB FOR YOU.
Time off must be scheduled 1 MONTH in advance or else you basically have to take points.
Time off during the summer is impossible to get unless you are present on the 1 day that they open the time and the time is filled in a matter of 3 minutes. Have off that day? Tough luck. Don't know when you will need off because it is many months in advance? Tough luck. Grab a week and plan your life accordingly.
Brown nosers are rewarded with everything. Fail to brown nose and you will stagnate until you quit or get fired.
Pay raises are garbage and you are looking at 3% if you are lucky. Which based off the base pay scale equates to .42 a year. A YEAR!! COME ON!!
You are expected to shove products down peoples throats based on a "needs based approach", that's understandable. I mean, it is a banking institution. However, you will be punished if you don't meet "expectations" even though they will swear up and down you don't have a quota.
The phone rings every 3 seconds. On a busy day, which is pretty much every day, you will get calls non stop all day. This equates to about 100 - 140 calls per day and you are expected to sell to every one of them and spend at least 5 minutes on the phone with them. Oh, and your breaks WILL be canceled. Burnout is inevitable.
Management is spotty. There are some really good and really bad managers but there is an overall lack of business knowledge and education across the board.
Advice to Senior Management – Commission would be nice if I am going to be forced to sell.
You took away the pension unless you are grandfathered in. How do you expect to keep GOOD people if you focus more on building branches than taking care of your employees?

Former Employee – worked at Hudson Valley FCU
Pros – It was a great place to learn valuable work skills for my future professional endeavors.
Nice co-workers.
Good management.
Many opportunities for advancement.
Cons – Favoritism sometimes obvious in scheduling and promotions.
Workers weren't always treated equally in terms of respect from supervisors.
Pay was not very good at all.
Advice to Senior Management – Pay your staff a little more to reflect all of the hard work they do.
Make sure you focus as much of member satisfaction as you do on products and sales.

Former Employee – worked at Hudson Valley FCU full-time for more than a year
Pros – training
benefits
paid time off
there are a lot of outside work activites organized by the CU
Cons – moving up can be very competitive and often it is a popularity contest. Too clicky in many branches. Politics play into advancement more so than any other company I have worked for.
