    Pros

At least for the internship program, they treat their interns pretty well. There were quite a few fun intern events. They don't ask for anything that would be too difficult and are very lenient with your work schedule.

    Cons

My manager seemed a bit overworked from my perspective. It might have just been that his work ethic was beyond amazing, but he definitely could have had an easier time.

    Advice to Management

As an intern, I don't think I know enough about this topic to provide any useful input here.

    Pros

Good environment to start work with it. school tuition assistant and training program provided. cafeteria food is excellent and the price is reasonable.

    Cons

Health insurance only has one choose, which associate with HSA account. It is good for health people, but it is not good for older people or have new born family.

    Advice to Management

Please consider to improve health insurance benefit and 401K company contributions.

Overwhelming internal corporate politics inhibiting customer growth and business efficiency.

    Advice to Management

    Pros

+ Easy technical job (Not lot of challenges)
[ There is really no positive to work @ Hughes except that you may have settled closer to office and you just need some job to keep up with family ]

    Cons

    Tech:

    - Still RIP protocol being used :)
    - Lot of technical people in managerial positions. So, no freedom for engineers to work independently
    - No peer reviews for new designs. For most part senior directors / directors decide what should be done technically and engineers have to go implement
    - HR team is really bad
    - No process internally within Hughes to address inter-team related issues. Such problems contiue to hang on until it hurts end customer and thats when issues gets some attention and effort from staff to get fixed
    - Pay scale is lower than market rate

    Advice to Management

    - Management team is getting older and there is immediate need for lateral thinking. Just putting pressue on engineers and making them to work hard is not going to help.
    - Company should change their management style to hire good talent.
    - Would suggest Hughes to bring leaders from outside for new leadership positions such as manager, directors etc. instead of promoting internal technical staff.

    Pros

The experience completely depends on the team. The team I worked is very ordinary and the manager sucks.
    - Flex times
    - Job safety since most people leave the company
    - Relatively easy to crack the interview and a decent start for young graduate

    Cons

    - Benefits are going down since Echostar took over
    - Very old Software techniques
    - Not much innovation in Software products
    - Takes very long to get promotions

    Advice to Management

    - Pay more to hard working and innovative people
    - Need Team building activities (absolutely none when I left)
    - Change the work culture

    Pros

    Work life balance.
You get lot of breaks during work.
Keep delivering on your tasks in time and you will promotion in 2 years (don't expect sooner)

    Cons

Promotion- don't expect it sooner than 2 years
    HR is rude
Pays are usually below market rate

    Advice to Management

Put some life into work. Try more to manage employees who are seriously believe in job security, before things get out of hand.
