    Pros

Pretty good benefits, great work environment with awesome co-workers overseen by a great managing team.

    Cons

Benefits and commission level has been lowered since. You have to hussle in order to make a nice paycheck. This is of course at the smaller hugo boss locations, or not as busy ones. Terrible advancement oportunities for smaller locations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to raise comission level and better temployees benefits.

(Boss Outlets,IL.suburbs) Lack of management structure, upper management takes advantage of lower level management.

I worked at Hugo Boss USA full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent compensation, great discounts on clothing.

    Cons

Expect to take on the roll of " acting General Manager" at assistant pay. I have seen assistant managers in this predicament a multitude of times within 4 years time. A assistant manager in the Chicago region has been in the General Manager's roll without GM's compensation for over a year. Not only is this insulting to the assistant manager, but sets the tone of the mentality of the upper echelon of Hugo Boss. Most of the employees in the midwest region are realizing that the "glass celling" at the retail level is a short one.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Regional management needs to value it's dedicated employees and invest in them. Most of Boss's employees feel overworked and underpaid.

I have been working at Hugo Boss USA full-time

    Pros

They are all about customer service and they provide you with great trainings to help you become a great employee. Base and commission pay really makes a difference.

    Cons

Upper management does not really look into how store managers are running their store, and pretty much let them run the store how they want even if there are some unfair things going on. They say they like to promote from within but it comes down to who the store manager wants to hire. Retail is getting worse as time passes in regards to work/life balance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to what lower employees have to say, do not automatically take the store managers word over the hourly employee.

I have been working at Hugo Boss USA full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

requesting time off is very easy and flexible. The environment is fairly laid back, almost bored when slow.

    Cons

no structure in rules, training, promotion levels are tricky for full time sale associates (changed this year) compensation is 100% commission

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

get a better training schedule, please stop being a push over, take ownership of your store

I worked at Hugo Boss USA as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

    - Interns are treated as part of the team and are invited to all events
    - Supervisors and coworkers are very friendly and helpful
    - No question is too stupid to be asked
    - Employees seem truly passionate about their company and its products
    - Dedicated Lunch and Learns for interns
    - Summer Fridays
    - Amazing employee discount
    - Beautiful office space (including a gorgeous rooftop)

    Cons

    - It gets busy and hectic during market season
    - Location (not that easy to get to and no places to go for lunch around)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

For interns it may be helpful to get more feedback (perhaps every 4 weeks or so), so that changes can be made before the internship ends.

I worked at Hugo Boss USA

    Pros

Great young environment that is fast-paced. Fun to be in New York City. Had some fun events during the time I was there that helped the culture.

    Cons

Treats their employees/interns like they are worth nothing. A lot of busy work. Expects long hours during market season. Not enough pay for living in New York.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Figure out how to integrate all aspects of your company to create a universal system throughout the system. Would allow your customers to get the Hugo Boss experience from anywhere they shop including online.

I worked at Hugo Boss USA part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    Self-management
    Sales
    In control of sales
Selling Manager is a huge plus
    Great products
    Strong clientele

    Cons

    Micro-management
    Competitive
    Prices
    Slow Days
    Coworkers stealing commission
Dealing with suits that aren't fit well

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I felt that my main manager micromanaged far more than he should have, but having a selling manager on salary taught me so much about the selling process! I owe all my selling skills to this company.

I felt this job paid very well for a retail position, and working at such a prestigious clothing brand was great because we always had loyal customers. I really recommend working here while you are in between positions or looking for sales experience. Working the the tailors and selling suits really taught you a lot about packaging a sale and has prepares me for life beyond retail.

A great experience I wouldn't give back for anything!
