Former Employee - Help Desk Analyst in Toronto, ON (Canada)

    Pros

You will gain experience and knowledge of how the education industry is run on a daily basis and some knowledge of how web applications work. Not the best setting to gain Server experience as this place is locked down.

    Cons

No career advancement b/c it's only temporary work and they bring in candidates during the college start dates in Aug-Sept and Dec-Jan.

Former Employee - Coordinator in Toronto, ON (Canada)

    Pros

Better than average pay for the industry, lots of opportunities once you are hired full-time. Excellent professional development provided. You can feel good about working for the best college in Ontario.

    Cons

Lots of the jobs are contracts in the first two years of employment. If you are contract or Appendix D (replacing someone on leave) you can feel like a second class citizen. Some of the staff have been there a long time so don't seem all that motivated. As with most large organizations, change takes place at a snail's pace.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more flexible when considering candidates to fill vacancies.

Current Employee - Professor  in  Toronto, ON (Canada)
Current Employee - Professor in Toronto, ON (Canada)

    Pros

-Excellent team support and environment. All aspect of teaching support is efficient and/or diligent at providing the services they offer.
-The student body is respectful and eager to learn.

    Cons

I have not seen any "cons," just obstacles the biggest of which is lac of space for growing student intake (International and local), but such is obstacle is already being neutralized.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work :).

Current Employee - Athletics Supervisor  in  Etobicoke, ON (Canada)
Current Employee - Athletics Supervisor in Etobicoke, ON (Canada)

    Pros

Working for Athletics allows a lot of flexibility. As mentioned before, it provides a good balance between school and work. Athletics recognizes that its Supervisors are also students, and allows time off when needed.

    Cons

Unfortunately, the hourly rate isn't the greatest at Athletics. It is probably comparable to other places of work, but I have worked in other departments of Humber College and been paid a higher hourly rate for similar work responsibilities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think it would be beneficial for Athletics to empower its employee more and to show mutual respect between superiors and Supervisors. Sometimes the manner in which issues are address lacks professionalism.
