I have been working at Hunterdon Healthcare full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Competitive wages, better benefits than most, excellent paid time off benefits. Managers look out for their staff, work with staff to better meet staff's personal needs.

    Cons

It's the healthcare industry, and it's a hard industry to be in these days. Staffing is tight, and the work is demanding.

    Advice to Management

More staff across all departments, focus on refurbishing infrastructure before continuing to expand.

I worked at Hunterdon Healthcare full-time

    Pros

Small community feel with the nurses and other ancillary departments.

    Cons

The pathology department is run by an Individual who breeds contempt and gossip through the staff. Favoritism and favors are given to the most revered who happen to be around this persons age. It's reverse discrimination towards the 40 yo crow . Many things were allowed to happen that was inappropriate. The HR department is a joke. They say "we're investigating" so they round up an entire department all the while patients are waiting for their care due to HR taking staff away from their work. I don't. The medical center is horribly bad and I'm not surprised it has failed and now Atlantic Healthcare is in an asset purchase agreement with Hunterdon. Hopefully they will come in , clean house , and get rid of the junk

    Advice to Management

Stop breeding contempt among the ranks

I have been working at Hunterdon Healthcare full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great befits including tuition reimbursement and a good amount of paid time off.

    Cons

Very hard to move from one department to another. It's all about who you know.

    Cons

I worked at Hunterdon Healthcare full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Excellent clinicians who really care about their patients. Long-term CEO who is a visionary and is compassionate.

    Cons

Human Resources tends to side with management. The department has improved over the years, but there is still a lot of room for improvement for the HR Department to be what it should be. Health insurance is way too expensive to be a health care organization. Favoritism for certain individuals in certain departments. Disparity of how employees in different departments will be disciplined for the same offense. Limited diversity among employees.

    Advice to Management

Hold senior managers and directors accountable.

This hospital is in a time warp! Female employees are treated unfairly.

I worked at Hunterdon Healthcare full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are some good perks with employee pension plan and auto insurance discounts

    Cons

Gender specific inequality Health insurance premiums and deductibles are very high Very much a hierarchy. Employees in lower level employment areas are not taken seriously in regards to work conditions or complaints.

    Advice to Management

Step into the next century. Offer the same opportunities and levels of communication to your female staff as you do to male employees. There should be a zero sexual harassment policy. The complaints should be handled by an outside entity instead of the strongly politically influenced HR department

I worked at Hunterdon Healthcare full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I really enjoyed my job and my coworkers! My direct supervisor was a pretty good boss. Enjoyed working in 3 different environments.

    Cons

Low pay, insurance benefits, small raises, office space, computers, lack of advancement.

    Advice to Management

Provide opportunities for advancement, increase pay (after all this is a high cost of living area), better insurance.
