Pros
They have good insurance to offer.
Cons
They are rude. HR doesn't care about you. They have secret rules in their guidlines book that state they can fire you for NO reason. They don't respect their employees. They won't help you to better yourself and work your way up because they are all threatened they will lose their job because you'll take theirs. They have nothing but dissatisfied customers and ridiculous accounts that constantly have errors and problems occuring.
Pros
The only positive experiences I have obtained while working at Huntington is simply the customer service skills I've been able to build upon and the lending experience.
Cons
I received virtually no training on Huntington's computer systems, which in the beginning reflected very poorly on the company since I had to learn purely by experience, while working with customers. The communication between departments, especially when putting through loan applications, is completely asinine. Talk to any banker in the NE region and they'll agree it takes 10 times as long as it should to get a response from the loan department, prompting clients to move on. As the "re-branding" of Huntington really took off, one had to wonder where all this money they were spending was coming from. With extended hours, free accounts, and a 24 hour grace period, how will they make up the revenue being spent on the expensive marketing and branch renovations? So far, the pressure of making up that money has trickled down to us in the branch with high goals and sales expectations. I predict HNB will lose much of it's top talent to other organizations and break down completely; maybe not this year, maybe not 2 years from now, but it will definitely happen.
Pros
Benefits packages and facilities are good.
Cons
Unrealistic setting of goals. Once a goal is reached it is then raised to an uttainable level.
No encouragement for success, only criticism about failures.
Little support coming from senior management with complete disinterest for emplyoyee input.
Make your goals our you are "out'.
Advice to Senior Management
Show value and respect toward long term employees. Stop negative management practices.
Pros
Great company, especially in Columbus, where they're headquartered. I was able to network and really grow my position in the commercial bank industry.
Cons
No real complaints. Although, while I was working there it seemed like an inordinate amount of people left and went to JP.
Advice to Senior Management
A training program would probably make for better hires out of the gate. The learning curve not very steep, however, training new employees is always good policy.
Pros
Huntington truly cares about it's employees and keeps employees aware of events/ happenings throughout the company. Huntington feels like a tight-knit family of employees. We work together to be an awesome bank and to serve our clients well.
Cons
Beginning compensation could be more competitive, but that ability to transfer after 1 year in a position is valuable.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to keep employees well-informed on occurrences throughout the bank. The information is appreciated.
Pros
Great Benefits and professional environment. People willing to help and support for problem resolution for customers was strong.
Cons
Manager has complete control of your production. Unrealistic expectations for lending in the entire state of Michigan. No chain of command to control branch managers, employees can be be mistreated and do nothing.
Advice to Senior Management
Management never gave me a response or even a chance to respond to false numbers and left of production numbers. If the manager meets there numbers they will not be questions, Get some stones and find out the truth. No chain of command to control branch managers, employees can be be mistreated and do nothing.
Pros
Pension, opportunity for bonuses, not overly difficult
Cons
poor annual raises, pay is below competitors
Pros
lots of the pros have been slowly cut out; just grateful to have a job.
Cons
sales numbers are developed with a logic that is unintelligeable to the ranks.
Pros
Benefits people location thats all
Cons
Managment no room fpr growth only want more dont appreciate what you give backstabbers lies
Pros
Solid benefits package, i had a good bit of personal freedom in my work, time off exceptional, most of the general perks of working for a large Company exist here. Some managers do a good job considering the culture of fear. seems branding is improving.
Cons
always worried about your job from one day to the next, constant layoffs and new hires-then cycle repeats, some very senior managers are really nasty individuals, merger with Sky Bank was rugged.
Advice to Senior Management
Overall, this organization eventually needs to find its team and stick with it. We had gone through 3 firing cycles from 2008-2010. I was not personally terminated, but you always had to worry no matter your performance. Many long-term solid employees were constantly concerned about their status from one day to the next. As a very high level senior manager told me once in confidence, "There are really only a handful of people here that are not worrying about being canned." I think that holds true across the board.
