I have been working at Huntington National Bank full-time

    Pros

    Great company Culture friendly people

    Cons

No Diversity in upper management. If you are a person on color you will never make it to a management level.( In the insurance department only) regardless of how good you work and how mush experience and education you have. The manager over sales pick here favorites, The must. The only way a person of color has a chance for upper management is in the banking customer service and branch department.

    Advice to Management

Don't judge a person by their race.If they are very qualified for the position then give that person a chance. You current sales manager is Stuck in the 1950's ( in the insurance department). You need to reevaluation the management.

    Pros

Bank hours are great. Nice people to work with and build lasting friendships.

    Cons

No incentives for competitive work ethic and it is hard to move up quickly. Work above part time hours frequently without being allowed to move up to full time.

    Advice to Management

Work employees scheduled hours or offer incentives for overage. Also give credit for work done not based on the buddy system.

    Pros

Good work/life balance. Plenty of vacation. Great learning experience.

    Cons

Dog eat dog environment. Competing with your own coworkers to succeed. Very little teamwork. If you're okay with a cannabalistic sales environment then go for it. Takes a long time to advance.

    Advice to Management

Let your FCMs focus on managing, not sales.

    Pros

Lots of PTO if you can use it.

    Cons

Difficult to advance career since the person who makes that decision is three managers higher than you.

    Pros

2 years and still the pros are to be determined.

    Cons

The district I went in to was disgusting. They were called Huntington high for more than one reason. The "mean girls" ran that place. Especially the upper management. No recognition where deserved.

    Advice to Management

Don't be bitter. I made my managers goals every month and still ended up being treated like crap. The DMs need to learn to not gossip so much and treat their bankers like people not slaves. You really aren't as smart as you think you are. Managed were way brighter than the DMs. It was sad because the DMs were then rude to them.

    Pros

Work/life balance Flexible hours Most employees are easy to work with Lower Level Senior Management easy to work with. Benefits

    Cons

Pay more commensurate with external new hires. Salary levels far below industry standard, if you are a long time employee. Best opportunity to advance is to leave (surrender your tenure) and come back for significantly higher wages. No motivation for experienced colleagues to stay and grow their career. Risk & Compliance business unit unstructured, overbearing and consistently unfamiliar with the "risks" they are trying to mitigate. Typical bureaucracy over function mindset.

    Advice to Management

Reward those that choose to stay and grow, as opposed to job hopping salary seekers. Be sure to manage risk in a manner that makes business sense, as opposed to adding layers of oversight to those unfamiliar with day to day implications of the request.

    Pros

A lot to do, all the time. Room to move up if you want to be a Sales Advisor.

    Cons

A lot of the work is not necessarily sales related, yet you are still expected to sell everyday.

    Pros

If your in need to make new friends Huntington is a great place to work. The only great thing Huntington has going for themselves, they hire young professionals. Me and a few of my new friends even hang out after hours for food, drinks, bowling, shopping, concerts etc. Benefits and health insurance are good.

    Cons

Broken promises, long work hours (your hours just got longer and also don't request PTO), horrible management, demanding sales (you have to make the goal to get paid, any work you do under the goal U don't get paid), understaffed all the time (management confuses understaffed with ability to get promoted), annoying conference calls (it's time to put UR hand out to get smacked), because your in instore u must sell your self to the customers because they are frightened to trust u make a deposit, update the system the system looks like it was built in the 60's

    Advice to Management

Value your employees stop treating them like dirt! Close all in store branches.
