I worked at Huntsville Hospital part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good place to work, great coworkers

    Cons

large business, not much of a personal feel

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Some times things are more than black & white, as far as policies

    I worked at Huntsville Hospital

    Pros

Full time employment with benefits. Monday through Friday hours, an occasional catered lunch from a drug rep and love the patients.

    Cons

Management hounding you to harass patients for money not for you to see the benefits, but for them to get bonuses. Offices are understaffed while others have too many employees sitting around scrolling facebook. No training when you get hired, you get thrown in an office with overworked staff and a manger is no where to be found. Enjoy being treated like dirt with no room for advancement cause someone's sisters cousin mothers son or daughter will get a leadership position before you will. Most of the leadership came in on someone else's coattails and have no management experience. No one above them is keeping them accountable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Most of you need to invest time in work ethic classes and instructing your employees than running your mouth about your employees. Stop hiring and firing people without taking the time to equip them with what is needed to work in the office. Most of the things discussed in meetings are never brought back to the clinic to keep them informed on policy and procedures we find out after the fact. However we will hear all the dirt on other managers, their personal lives and why people are fired.

I worked at Huntsville Hospital full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Decent benefits, offer free wellness center for some employees, heavily discounted for others. Great daycare! Work schedule not bad. Some very nice people.

    Cons

Pay is poor if you are not a Dr. or nurse. The culture is very fragmented, with each department "silo'd" in to what they are doing. Some affiliate hospitals not happy to be managed by Huntsville Hospital leads to some stained relationships.
    Poor paid time off rules.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote a "one" team environment. Too much gossiping and too much politics! Get everyone on the same page and backing each other. Eliminate the information "bottlenecks" and seek broader input.

I have been working at Huntsville Hospital full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Strong since of community and support, High value of continued learning.

    Cons

It can be hard to get into an upper or mid level inner circle as there are some many employees.
While the over all leadership of the hospital is strong some upper and mid level leader micro manage against the trend of the hospital sitting some departments off as a less happy place to work

Too many chiefs. Left hand doesn't know the right hand

I have been working at Huntsville Hospital

    Pros

Higher pay scale than most security gigs in Huntsville for in house security staff

    Cons

No path for advancement defined. Cross departmental supervision ( non security supervising security). Appearance of buddy system on hiring.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find professionals for management or build their skill sets through training. Take a class on interviewing for supervisor level positions. Define a path of promotion or advancement. Reorient yourself to the employee. Sergeant says "Take care of your subordinates needs, and they will take care of you. Neglect your soldiers, expect them to find another leader.".

I have been working at Huntsville Hospital full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

In my experience those employees "in the trenches" generally are hard working and do their best for the patients.

    Cons

Management is out of touch and doesn't consult with those who perform the jobs before making decisions. Changes are made that make more work for employees who are often stretched to the max in time management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ask us for our opinions. Be willing to pay incentives for working extra shifts when the census is up. If you are paying nurse managers bonuses for saving money by overburdening their employees unnecessarily, at least be honest about it. We should be informed about managers' bonuses.

I worked at Huntsville Hospital full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Pay is comparable or better to other clinical positions in the area.

    Cons

Management is changed so often that no one knows who you are. In lieu of learning more about the employees they strong arm you and make your life miserable, even if you are a hard worker.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get to know your employees better before treating them like lazy trash.
