Pros
Porofessional and respectful workplace as a whole.
Cons
Sometimes fail to weed t poor performers
Pros
Recent leadership change means the company is investing in projects and people. Everyone has had more training this year than in the past 10. Husky's best days are ahead of it.
Cons
The company is probably overreaching. There is a lot of turnover and in some areas unhappiness. Change is challenging. There is a disconnect from many managers to the people doing the work. There are not enough people to execute.
Pros
Husky is an integrated oil and gas company that has opportunities to work in different businesses. Senior management is relatively new and there have been many changes that create opportunities for growth.
Cons
With the changes have come a lot of turnover and some change exhaustion. Husky's systems are not very streamlined. This can make day to day tasks inefficient and manual.
Advice to Senior Management
Some senior management are tempermental and inexperienced in the oil and gas industry. Composure is required to set a professional tone for the rest of the company.
Pros
The people. They are the main reason I work their.
Cons
No direction given from upper management to the masses. Policies and procedures which make decision making prohibitive.
Advice to Senior Management
Talk to the employees. Focus on team building.
Pros
The compensation is quite good. The oil & gas sector generally pays quite well and Husky is no exception. There are a fair number of knowledgeable people that work there and Husky has a fair number of complex areas. This makes for some great learning opportunities for self-motivated employees. They are also fairly good about time off, as long as you have a decent manager.
Cons
There are very few formal programs for staff development and career growth. Training budgets are fairly low. The morale in Q2 2009 is as low as it has been in a long time. With the drop in oil prices, many good people are being let go. Senior management controls a lot of details that are delegated down in other organizations. This leads to people that seem scared to make a decision.
Advice to Senior Management
Start managing this like a company that is a tier one oil producer. It isn't a company with a $8 billion market cap anymore.
Pros
You are independent and they pay very well to make up for weaknesses.
Ability to work from home encourages work/life balance.
The people - not management - try to do their best given the circumstanses.
Cons
Incompetent Management. The "Hong Kong" way of doing things. The politics are intense.
The IT department is a real mess - don't look for innovation from this department or good help. It has been stripped bare of talent and does not have nearly enough people to support the organization. It is a business disaster waiting to happen!
It is a very old company. Not enough young people to show a bright future.
Advice to Senior Management
Wake up and follow North American standards! Know our intense the politics are and diffuse them.
