    Recreation Department Not For Everybody

Rec Attendant (Former Employee) Bonita Springs, FL

ProsDecent benefits, free breakfast, lunch, & dinner. Starts off with a wonderful orientation program giving you a warm a fuzzy feeling about Hyatt and how everybody is family. Orientation programs are really informative. Great employees in other departments.

ConsThe problem is, what is preached in orientation isn't always practiced in reality. Mutual respect and honesty is lacking within the Rec Department @ Bonita Springs. Plenty of backstabbing, he said/she said behavior.

Great place work if you enjoy standing around, looking pretty, and talk about your fellow coworkers, managers, and even the guests behind their backs.

Pay is $9.75/hr After 90 days you jump up $.25/hr. Not hardly enough for the amount of work to do.

Open door policy: Don't believe a word of it. If anyone who says their door is open, run - and fast!

Schedule is different than most would be accustom to. There is no overtime if you exceed 8 hours per day. You will be worked 10 to 11 hours at times. Overtime shows up if you exceed 80 hours per pay period and the Rec Mgr is very aware of that fact. Plan on be release to go home some days if you are close to the 80 hour mark. Weekends off are few and far between.

Advice to Senior ManagementReally need to look into this department instead of thinking everything status quo. Rec department cannot keep people and there is a reason for it

    No Balance

    Front Office Agent (Former Employee)

ProsGreat people work there and you always have fun with your coworkers. There is some autonomy and freedom on how you chose to handle certain customer situations.

ConsAwful scheduling. Managers are not considerate of work life balance. Very low pay for what you put up with.

Good pay and benefits. Management need some training.

    Housekeeping (Former Employee) Carlsbad, CA

ProsThey offer very good pay and benefits. The hours are consistent and they feed you when you are at work (very delicious food)

ConsIt's a very fast-paced work environtment where sometimes you end up paying for other people's mistakes and have to take it with a smile on your face. I particulary had horrible supervisors in the Aviara Resort in San Diego, CA.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't give peple management positions if they don't show basic people skills.

Front Desk Supervisor (Former Employee) Lexington-Fayette, KY

ProsAll of the staff is friendly and seems to genuinely care about each other while at work. It is not a physically intensive job.

ConsScheduling is released weekly, so you never know when you will be required to show up. The HR department is not run well.

    My perspective of Hyatt

    Front Desk Agent (Current Employee)

ProsGreat learning opportunity of the hospitality industry, decent compensation and great benefits. In the position I am in now, I am learning almost everything there is to know about running a hotel. Despite the fact that it technically an entry level position, I am still learning so much and have access to so much information in the form of reports, training, other departments and management

ConsThe Food & Beverage department has a lot of opportunity in the way employees treat each other. Before transferring to where I am now, I started in F&B and it was one of the worst "co-worker" experiences I've ever had. Most of my co-workers had very little respect or empathy for each other or the guests. However the department I am in now is much different and they seem to strive to make sure everyone is happy and content with their job :)

Advice to Senior ManagementMake sure that all employees treat each other with respect and honesty. Always probe to see what kind of interactions your employees are having
