Pros
Ability to work from home,
Cons
If you don't work in Chicago and you're in a home office, you sort of feel disconnected from other Hyatt employees
Advice to Senior Management
Better Communication
Pros
Paid higher, at the time, than most in our job in the hospitality industry
Cons
No consistency on expectations, possibly because it was a new brand at the time. There was never time given to let a plan work for the company. Everyone, including senior management was on edge, so that stress trickled down to the individual hotel level.
Advice to Senior Management
Get a plan and stick with. We all know change is good, but if you are changing the direction of the goal every month, frustration will always follow.
Pros
Nice coworkers. You feel proud to work for the company. Plenty of opportunity for self growth within the company. Good place to get base experience. Nice pay, and good benefits.
Cons
If you don't become friends with the management staff, it will be hard to move up the ladder within that property.
Advice to Senior Management
Ask the employees for their opininons before you impliment changes. If you wanna focus on guest satisfaction, the best way to start is internally by making your employees happy.
Pros
-Provided a perfect learning experience
-Great management team
-Most people on the team willing to help new staff learn and grow
-Great hotel related benefits
Cons
-Long hours, vacation was at times difficult to have approved
-Pay was lower than expected
-Upward movement within company is challenging without the employee being willing to move locations
Advice to Senior Management
Continue the training programs previously in place, even in times of economic downturn. Offer a better incentive setup for sales people to achieve quotas.
Pros
Pretty good pay and benefits.
Cons
Sometimes the management isn't the best.
Advice to Senior Management
Help out more and give feedback.
Pros
room for advancement if you could deal with it long enough
Cons
there is no communiation between the departments
Advice to Senior Management
treat your employees better and encouragement between departments
Pros
Nice company to start out in if you want to work in a corporate environment and learn the ropes.
Cons
If your a survivor you can stay forever, if not, learn and get out fast.
Advice to Senior Management
Need to treat people as people, spread the love around and remember that PR is not a punishment center - oh but you sold the place right!!!
Pros
Good money per hour but everything else is mediocre at best, you are better off working for a standard property.
Cons
Senior management are a little gang and they all cover each others back, do not count on any support from any of them.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop promoting your buddies, hire and promote the best person for the job, it is dissapointing and disrespectful to everyone
Pros
It is a well known marketable brand that "ideally" values the customer. They do have a high standard that excels above their competition and they drive home that level of service.
Cons
It feels as if sometimes they leave their employees behind when dealing with their high level of service and sometimes get out of touch with their guest needs based upon practices that they have been trying to implement.
Advice to Senior Management
Maintaining strong and healthy staff is the key to driving the great ideals that Hyatt puts forth regarding the guests and what it means to provide good service.
Pros
It is a leading company in the hospitality industry. It has its standard process of doing business. The additional employee benefits are great for those who loves travelling.
Cons
limited support from management and peers. There is little on the job training opportunities. The compensation is also so so.
Advice to Senior Management
Managers at Hyatt should pay more attention to employees in terms of their career advancement, as well as the on the job training.
