I have been working at Hyatt Regency full-time for more than a year
Pros – Great upward mobility, tons of locations to work at, and comfortable work environment. The company takes time to invest in you and make you a better Sales Manager.
Cons – Horrible bonus structure, some hotels are more fun to work at than others. Most departments at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla are very fun, while the Sales department is selfish, anti-social, and there is no chemistry amongst the reps.
Advice to Senior Management – Fix your bonus structure, it should be plain and simple and not tied to salary, rather, tie it to production.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

I worked at Hyatt Regency
Pros – Amazing communication within hotel, tons of training for new and current employees/managers, plenty of opportunities for advancement, true concern for the customer, great Hyatt discounts and complementary rooms all over the World, reasonable insurance and 401K, free lunch/dinner and parking discounts at Mansion House garage.
Cons – All Hyatt jobs are globalized (meaning they are the same at all the hotels across the Globe) therefore, they let management know that they are easily dispensable, even though managers can advance fairly quickly - low employee morale is caused by the fact that managers are constantly being moved from department to department within the hotel and across the country - it's not likely for a manager to stay in one spot/department for more than 1 year (I was moved to 3 different departments in 2 years as manager/asst manager so new managers could be moved in - I never requested the moves & never wanted them), inside joke - HYATT stands for "Have Your A$$ There Tomorrow because they move managers out to other hotels so often, also ... management hours are grueling at well over 70hrs a week, employee down-sizing meant too many were given an unfair amount of daily tasks, a certain Executive Hotel Manager would scream and curse at his Hotel Managers (FD, HSK, Valet, Guest Svs, etc) daily **Overall, the Hyatt Company is great for single, young managers who WANT TO advance through the departments for training and eventually become higher level managers. Hyatt is NOT for individuals with families who enjoy working in only one aspect of the hotel industry.

I worked at Hyatt Regency
Pros – The pay can be good. And some of the people that work there are great people whom I will miss. The diversity in backgrounds is impressive.
Cons – Management has its hands tied because upper management is all about the dollars at the end of the day. It is an environment that kills creativity, does not promote individualism even though they claim to. My department was understaffed for all of 2011, yet we were still blamed for every single little thing that could have been avoided or fixed if we had just hired a couple of more people.
The program they have to train managers who are still young and looking for a career in the hotel business is borderline incompetent, taking young people with no experience and putting them in a frantic high paced work environment. They have to manage people that have much more experience. The problem with this is that most of these fake managers don't have a clue as to what to do, or how to be efficient, so they just get frustrated and start barking orders.
I regret ever working here. Not worth it. Don't bother.
Advice to Senior Management – Get with the times. I have never seen a place that despises its management so much. If you stop caring about the people who get up at 4 am to work for you eventually they will stop caring about the job.

I have been working at Hyatt Regency
Pros – Benefits are pretty good. Lots of opps to advance if you work hard and do well. I like it enough.
Cons – You will never get a weekend off again for the rest of your life. Say goodbye to all of your friends, they will be going on their fun trips without you because you have to work for peanuts on every holiday.
Advice to Senior Management – Somehow...allow some holidays and weekends off.
