I worked at Hyatt full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I liked being able to work the night shift. I enjoyed the medical benefits as well but they could have been better.

    Cons

I disliked the fact that management changed personnel often and they never promoted from within.

    Advice to Management

It would benefit the credibility of the management authority to not change policy as often as the people in charge.

    Cons

The people who seem to work as front desk people in hotels all seem to be crazy.

I worked at Hyatt full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

They encourage career growth and education.

    Cons

I never received a formal review or feedback before being let go because I wasn't the right fit. However, I was never given clear goals, and felt unrealistic expectations from the beginning. If you are having issues obtaining a certain type of business, perhaps you should evaluate your space and the amount you are charging, as opposed to throwing someone at the problem with no clear direction. I never felt comfortable asking for help despite the open door policy. A good manager reaches out and tries to help employees, but I noticed favoritism and a strange office environment almost from the beginning. Worst management experience I've ever had.

    Advice to Management

Make sure your upper management is practicing the "we care" philosophy you preach. I felt the exact opposite during by brief time with the company.

I worked at Hyatt full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Nice HR Department, slightly above average pay, nice hotel overall, nice perks including car discounts, large hotel discounts for other hyatts.

    Cons

Little to keep executives (chef) from doing whatever they want, little PTO, long hours, not much respect for kitchen workers

    Advice to Management

    Treat your employees better

I have been working at Hyatt full-time

    Pros

Emphatic leadership, but all talk and no walk. Certain areas of the company have very smart architects and engineers, but they're surrounded by very incompetent people.

    Cons

Senior management in technology has absolutely no plan and no ability to follow through on it. They've built up an organization in-house, spouting improvements and consolidation, only to stay with the same processes and fragmentation. We understand that change management is hard - but they're really, really bad at it. Half the staff is mortified of change and most projects are sitting on technology decades old (and they're resolute in their resistance to any changes to them... even for getting documentation in a single space). The other half is so far ahead of the company that they're bored and restless - it's only a matter of time until they leave.

    Advice to Management

Get your stuff together fast, or your best employees will leave, and you'll be left with the same junk projects and people you've been hired to phase out.
