    Good job good employess

    Voice Ops (Current Employee)
    Marion, IL

ProsGreat pay good benefits some paid holiday, no shortage of hours

ConsManagment is backwards not a whole lot of communication(example one manager tells you one thing another says something then the email they send the whole call center says something else).. They rolled out mastery progression in janurary and since have only trained a handful of ppl but yet still require everyone to meet standards that are not trained for.(For example they expect you to avg 48 to 50 percent of all calls you take, not realistic when every call counts. Now if you are gp trained your calls get backed out, not fair. There are firing good associates, even if your literally 1 percerent off your goals! Whata joke.

Advice to Senior ManagementTrain your associates and give them the tools they need to uphold your standards

Good place to work if your don't mind selling your culinary soul.

    Team Leader (Former Employee)
    Saipan, MP

ProsGood upper leadership and company values. Good stepping stone for moving into other careers.

ConsIt is nearly impossible to strike a stable work-life balance. Much of your life will be demanded at work. Lower and middle management have no sense of calm under stressing circumstances. They tend to panic and as a result lash out at the "Rank-&-File" employees, often in full view of customers.

Work hard and receive no return

    Outlet Manager (Current Employee)
Dar es Salaam, Dar es Salaam (Tanzania)

ProsGood overall company with good localized benefits based on the country. One of the only 5 star hotels in the city, so business levels are always good. Will give out extra responsibilities to people that are capable and show the skills required.

ConsCompensation is skewed against the local workforce and more beneficial for expats. Hyatt is supposed to be a company that values its work culture and employees but that is not always the case. Senior management tends to expect all staff to always work beyond what is required without even giving a simple thank you, and showing appreciation for the effort being put in. Growth opportunities are very limited and they will string you along for a couple of years before they actually act on anything.

Like a family but its a corporation.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsYou build great relationships with others. And they offer a lot of opportunities if you like this type of industry.

ConsSometimes you do not get recognized for your hard work. Especially if you are there a long time you end up being forgotten. They don't care if you actually have a life outside of work. When they need you on holidays or big events, they expect you to be a team player.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop and look in the mirror did you forget where you were before you were a manager? Just because you have power over someone does not mean you should use it against them.

    Recreation Department Not For Everybody

    Rec Attendant (Former Employee)
    Bonita Springs, FL

ProsDecent benefits, free breakfast, lunch, & dinner. Starts off with a wonderful orientation program giving you a warm a fuzzy feeling about Hyatt and how everybody is family. Orientation programs are really informative. Great employees in other departments.

ConsThe problem is, what is preached in orientation isn't always practiced in reality. Mutual respect and honesty is lacking within the Rec Department @ Bonita Springs. Plenty of backstabbing, he said/she said behavior.

Great place work if you enjoy standing around, looking pretty, and talk about your fellow coworkers, managers, and even the guests behind their backs.

Pay is $9.75/hr After 90 days you jump up $.25/hr. Not hardly enough for the amount of work to do.

Open door policy: Don't believe a word of it. If anyone who says their door is open, run - and fast!

Schedule is different than most would be accustom to. There is no overtime if you exceed 8 hours per day. You will be worked 10 to 11 hours at times. Overtime shows up if you exceed 80 hours per pay period and the Rec Mgr is very aware of that fact. Plan on be release to go home some days if you are close to the 80 hour mark. Weekends off are few and far between.

Advice to Senior ManagementReally need to look into this department instead of thinking everything status quo. Rec department cannot keep people and there is a reason for it
