La Crosse, WI

Former Employee – worked at I.C. System full-time for more than 3 years

ProsPerformance based Bonuses and in some cases it can be a good bonus.
Fast paced environment.
Can be fun and challenging at times.
No Training Needed

I'm not sure what the current situation is like or how the new CEO has been able to change things, but there are some good things here for entry level positions.

ConsIt's a collection agency, so you need patience.
Very inflexible attendance policy.
Sometimes unreasonably difficult to get a bonus.
If you are highly intelligent, you may go crazy.

Advice to Senior ManagementTake better care of your people, and especially middle management. The chain of events that I experienced with the company involved some pretty tough economic times but is no excuse for the resulting impact on the company's biggest stakeholders: the employees. Shame on senior management.

The La Crosse management group is great. They're as fair as they can be and go to great lengths to coach and develop employees. Don't be a JA and you'll do fine with them.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Prosflexible work hours
great team members

Conswhen the recession hit. the there was no longer job security in a recession proof indusrty
pay wasn't that great

Advice to Senior Managementtake care of your employees with good compensation and good benefits come good workers. I was among that group but was not treated that way. I was never late for work, always did my job plus went above and beyond the normal responsibility of a regular employee and was not recognized for it.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

ProsIf you are a motivated person and willing to learn you will be successful. Too many people come into the job thinking they will bonus right away, it takes time just be willing to constantly learn. The company does provided coaching, take it all in and you will hit your bonuses. Hourly pay is low but the bonuses are great.

ConsInconsistant bonuses all depends on the time of year. Supervisors have too much paperwork and do not do enough coaching. Company always changes the hourly employee's hours from 40 to 35 to overtime, increased weekend hours, later nights, earlier mornings. Collectors do not have a voice.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet your employees involved in decisions. You never know what you may learn. There is no advancement within company supervisors are there for life and becoming a lead is not a promotion. Smile.

ProsGenerous benefit package - especially paid time off. Flexible schedules available. Depending on the team there is an opportunity to make bonus money.

ConsUpper management doesn't care about employees. They constantly cut bonuses or make it more difficult to achieve them. Unless you are a star collector, it is very difficult to get any type of recognition. There is a lot of favoritism and nepotism.

Advice to Senior ManagementRealize it takes more than collectors to make the company function at it's optimum. Stop promoting incompetent people to supervisor level or higher.

ProsThe only good things about working at I.C. are the people and the breaks. No one checks to see when people are breaking and for how long.

ConsThe pay is bad and they dont let you work 40 hours a week. they say you can make 50K working here but yea right. i am a collection lead and struggle to make it past 26K.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to people who dont have bad ideas. Quit wasting money on stupid things. Pay your employees what they are worth.

ProsIC System is an ok company to work for. They have descent pay and a good training program. Throughout your time working there they do a good job at letting you know how you can improve call quality and increase payments. They also have a good bonus set up if you are able to exceed the monthly quota.

ConsThere isn't a lot of room for advancement. Right when I started working there they removed the team lead position and just had collection agents and supervisors. This is ok, but there isn't a lot of room to move up position wise.
