I worked at IAP Worldwide Services as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

    Established company, reliable history, supportive.

    Cons

Middle management not vetted properly. Unqualified people in positions of authority without earning the position. Still promoting via nepotism.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop the knee-jerk reaction-ism. Properly investigate not only incidents, but the people you are putting in managerial positions, in the field. Interview the boots-on-the-ground employees. Promote democratically, via computer ballots. Not by appointment. Let your employees pick their managers from among their peers.

I worked at IAP Worldwide Services as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

IAP provided a week of training prior to deploying us to our assignment locations in Afghanistan. The office that conducted the training was small and the staff were accessible. The staff responded promptly to questions, phone calls and emails.

    Cons

Although there was a site manager at the site, he was not actively involved in managing our group. In fact, the home office and the site manager were "hands off" and did not appoint any specific person to be the leader of our group. This led to infighting and power struggles in our group. The R and R's were not as good as the folks that were working on the LOGCAP IV program, but I assume IAP had to bid low for the contract that we were working on. Therefore, our R and R's were not as good.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There needed to be defined roles and a manager of our group should have been established by the corporate offices prior to sending our group to the field.

I worked at IAP Worldwide Services as a contractor for more than 3 years

    Pros

strong HR support, great insurance, no micro-managing, and you can talk to them.

    Cons

A bit of a meat shop, no career support and they remain aloof. You are there to show up, work for the number of years and go home. But that is contract work isn't?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to support your new personnel a little more so they don't have to learn everything new. Adapt to the changing policy of oversea assignments so your employees don't have pick up the nuances on their own.
