    Pros

    Office culture, benefits, compensation. Challenging and a place to develop basic aviation knowledge. Outgoing environment w/great management support. Benefits and compensation in comparison to other firms.

    Cons

    Understaffed requiring work over load. Organization structure diff from other big operating firms. Requires more mentorship opportunities with new interns - they could be valuable resources and candidates for full-time employment

    Pros

    -Amazing colleagues in all of the global IATA offices
    -Ease of transferring from one office to another
    -Considerable knowledge to be gained in all aspects of the aviation industry
    -Great work -life balance
    -IATA training courses provided to employees at a significant discount

    Cons

    Previously, many complaints regarding employment at IATA were due to a very bureaucratic style of management that was largely due to the management in place. Since assignment of the new Director General things have taken a turn for the better. The new style of management empowers employees and is not only transparent to employees but also to its main stakeholders.

    Continue the path that Tony Tyler has set in place

    Pros

    - lots of senior staff with a broad experience
    - very good salary for an intern
    - good brand for your CV

    Cons

    - very fixed employment structure, tough to move between departments
    - lower level staff have less room for development
    - Lack of incentives for staff to perform, IATA is a non-profit organizations that gets easy money. There is therefore little incentive to create greater efficiency within the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Create a structure that is less 'top heavy', introduce commercial incentives to create a more effective operational structure.

    Pros

    international company with multi-cultural staff. Great colleagues and professionals. People are passionate for the industry. An interesting experience in a different non-profit organization where sales and marketing drive the business

    Cons

    Management by fear. Weird atmosphere. People were treated poorly. Only a chosen few could beneficiate to some training or any other treatment, such as bonus or awards.

    respect your people. believe in the values you have posted on every walls.

    Pros

    Great knowledgeable people from around the globe. Working environment and corporate culture are good - a lot of activities to stay both mentally (industry updates during lunch breaks, conferences and business trips) and physically (team building and football club) fit, learning curve and great feeling of making a contribution to something big.

    Cons

    No promotion prospects is the biggest concern. Interns seem to be considered as cheap labor force and are hired when the company is "out of hands" on a project. Hence, chances of staying after an internship are close to zero. HR policies with fancy wording are good only on paper, internal promotion doesn't work due to both lack of motivation (interns come and go, hence the long-felt attitude that you are here only temporarily) and lack of job openings (huge gap in terms of availability - almost no entry-level positions that I could consider a continuation to my work as an intern; an absurdly big number of senior management job postings though).

    Internship program should be designed as a way of prospective development for an organization, and not a temporary fix to a worker shortage problem.

    Pros

    Cosmopolitan, good travel opportunities in some roles, package for more junior roles, e.g. interns, is good

    Cons

    A painful gap exists between change program "happy" slogans and what occurs day to day. Senior managers stick strictly to making their numbers with no regard to the welfare of their staff. Carrier development and progression is an alien concept except for the lucky few.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Box ticking exercises alone won't deliver happy staff. Having more managers who regularly talk and listen to their staff, and not just their SVP, would be a start. Looking out for the welfare of staff needs biting incentives not . If the staff ain't happy, new leaders should be found.

    Pros

    Vacations (12.5 days every 6 months), very decent coffee machines.

    Cons

    If you do not work in a department with a good revenue / budget then you are not very likely to stay after your internship. Your position will be re-posted in the careers website even before you are gone.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    After several months of training and specialization many interns are let go given that permanent employees are more expensive to hire. However, one fully functional intern (potential permanent employee) can easily do the job of two new hired interns.
