I have been working at IBM India full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

If you are lucky as me to be assigned to a good project, with managers who give credit for your performance, life is good. The more you prove yourself, the better appraisals and opportunities. Work from home option is available depending on the project, which as you would expect is either a boon or bane.

    Cons

Too many tools for proving career and professional growth. This gets tedious along with your project responsibilities and eats into your free time. Too many mandatory actions, trainings which don't serve much purpose. Salary increase is less and does not depend much on how well you perform, but on how much the company made profit. If you are deputed in US, no green card applications, 3 month notice period (ridiculous!) or pay $10,000, and not a single dollar increase in pay (they increase your hypothetical indian salary by peanuts).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop exploiting employees for profit at the cost of their well being. Simplify processes and reduce number of tools to submit career related stuff - streamline it to just one application.

Former Employee - Senior Advisory Consultant in Pittsburgh, PA

I worked at IBM India full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great company to work for. Great compensation and work culture. Colleagues are good and helpful and one learns from each other.

    Cons

Must keep abreast of growing knowledge. Project deadlines can be hard and customer demands unreasonable. Managing on-shore and off-shore teams can be challenging.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management should take note of work-life balance in order to retain good employees. IBM upper management does not care and watches carelessly, good employees walk into the hands of watching competitors.
