Flexibile working hours and Work from home is the best part of IBM.
Quite methodical...often on the beaurocratic level

the brand value
it looks good on your resume

you work for peanuts
difficult to move around in the system
diffcult to get used to never ending processes

- Awesome Flexibility (Work from any where, nobody cares as long as work is done)
- Great Learning Opportunities
- Flexibility to choose the domain / technology after you have spent some time in your current role.
Cons
- If you are growing internally / Moving Laterally - No Band Change.
- Basic Benefits to the Minimum
- All though this is stupid - No Tea / Coffee, No Subsidized Food, Bad Canteen Areas, at many sites it is usually in parking lot or basement.
- BAD COMPENSATION
Advice to Senior Management
- First Line & Second Line - you have nothing in your control, do you ?
So Senior Exe -
Fair Compensation & Right Banding of your employees will save Attrition & a Lot of Money.
Have some recreational activities - Funded by IBM, your employee's work very Hard to Keep you on TOP.
Pros
Good Brand. Good people to work with. Great opportunities
Cons
leadership change too frequent. Every leader is in a hurry to prove his mettle.
current leadership at GTS is batch of people who have lost touch with customers and probably not been in the field for a long time now.
demotivating the soldiers leading to loss of extremely good and performing people
Advice to Senior Management
Change back to the kind of personalities leading the business till about 2 years ago and it may regain its former glory and trust of its people
Pros
Various opportunities to work in different departments
Able to transfer between departments with not too much difficulty
Growth opportunities if you know the right people
Cons
There is no work-life balance. Working during vacation time is also expected, if required.
Salaries are lower than average in some cases even though performance is above average.
Advice to Senior Management
Create an environment where there is work-life balance, which does not limit scope for growth. If the job demands being available in off hours and vacation, it should be compensated.
Pros
Has a good working environment, a brand name, There are a lot of learning and growth opportunities within IBM, The management is overall good and appreciates what you do. The projects and assignments are mostly challenging and leaves a lot of scope to learn new things.
A lot of group activities keeps on going and we can participate in it with our family. The organization also takes part in lot of sports activities and encourages employees to be part of it.
The work-life balance is too good. Work from home and unlimited Sick leaves / Casual leaves makes this a good place to work.
Cons
The downside to working in IBM India is salary. The only reason someone would think of leaving the company is the compensation he/she gets.
When comparing with other companies the pay at IBM India is of low standard and surely does not even come near industry standards. The job movement and role changes is given much emphasis but everything seems to be on paper. Most of the time, promises given during interview are not fulfilled and people gets frustrated.
Reimbursement of expenses done for office work is very painful. There are a lot of process (which are useless) to be followed to even do a small work.
Advice to Senior Management
Please remove the band system and introduce something through which an employee could compare himself with his peers. Also, please improve the salary structure and divert some of the profits to your employees also.
