Pros
flexible timings and intelligent people to work with
Cons
low salary, career growth and promotion is not good
Advice to Senior Management
better compensation needs to be provided
Pros
job feels secure, there is always training for new products, there are several company discounts
Cons
not very much room for growth
you are expected to be on call 24/7
the quality of life is not high
Advice to Senior Management
to appreciate good workers and pay them accordingly.
Pros
Lots of jobs using almost every skill and background. High degree of independence. Pretty good communications.
Cons
Work your butt off for sub standard rewards. Sales compenstation is quota based so incomes are managed. Not a place for real sellers. No clear line of sight on promotion opportunities.
Advice to Senior Management
Look to the industry sales leaders and emulate them. Then maybe some top line growth will happen.
Pros
Brand name and global presence
Cons
utter Incompetence is rewarded very well
Advice to Senior Management
Look at real business beyond just the numbers. Focus more than the accounting cash flow; pay attention to the real cash flow.
Pros
It is a great company if planning to work for a short tearm (~2 years). You can carry your independent research and land in another great company to pursue your dream job and interest.
Cons
Career growth is almost non-existant. You are always looked down by management no matter how productive you are. Most of the management positions are held by seniors who are looking for their retirement. Try to ecell them, you will be rounded for next lay-off
Advice to Senior Management
Just step down and let the young and energetics lead.
Pros
Large company that can sustain a little longer in the economy we are in and have been in for the last say 10 years.
Cons
A large company that seems to hold everything at the executive level and does not value or recognize its good employees.
Advice to Senior Management
There should be more emphasis on working as a team and rated as such instead of ranking on the "I" factor.
Pros
its good as you learn and grow knowledge by working on different projects even though for the same employer. work culture and environment
Cons
nothing as of now may be later . One thing is There is no promotions. I mean its hard to be promoted
Advice to Senior Management
Couldnot think anything right now but I would say that they are just following the orders of their higher management so they cannt really help us with
Pros
IBM Consulting is the largest consulting company in the world and often works on the largest and most complex projects in the world. The work is often very interesting and challenging with the opportunity to work in various industries and in different parts of the world. At IBM you will have the opportunity to advance your career faster than others who work in "normal" 9-5 jobs.
Cons
The downsides of IBM Consulting is that you are almost never at home. I spent the majority of 8 years on an airplane twice a week. From this, I gained career experience that few others outside of consulting would be able to have. During my career at IBM I was significantly underpaid compared to consultants working at other consulting companies.
It took me a while to understand, but IBM is a sales company, not a delivery company. If you excel in delivery, you will not be rewarded financially or with career advancement. If you have technical abilities, translating those skills to be used in a sales capacity would be where you would see the largest financial returns.
Advice to Senior Management
Executive management at IBM is excellent at creating a winning strategy for the company. The middle management leaders often don't provide a lot of value to your career or direction of the firm.
Pros
IBM has world class clients, exposure to many mega sized projects AND global initiatives and has vast resources to advance your career needs.
Cons
Work More and Expect Less Salary. Management always gives a hard time to work overtime.
Reviews are usually very partial. Professional Development Managers do nothing to contribute to our career growth. They are more like administrative clerks. who check hours and manage some excel sheets.
