Well known brand name that can be a great advantage when you look for the next step in your career path.

    Pros

The work is challenging, and you get to work on a global scale. Diverse offerings, makes for exposure to a number of different kinds of businesses. People are great, always wiling to do whatever it tales to get the job done and to help each other

    Cons

Very little upward movement within the company, salary standstill, management unclear of direction or model. Constant concern of layoffs and overall sour attitude of the employees

    Advice to Management

Start to focus on clients, employees then shareholders versus shareholders alone.

    Pros

Literally the only pro I can think of at IBM is that it is a well-known company with a good(although inaccurate) reputation. However, that reputation is starting to sour in order to reflect the companies modern day business dealings. In all other instances, it pales compared to other firms.

    Cons

You will never get a raise. When you ask your manager why you have not received any sort of raise in two years(not even an inflation adjustment) , be prepared for them to respond that they have not received any sort of raise in an even longer amount of time.

    Advice to Management

Hold yourselves accountable for the companies dwindling performance. When strategy is not working, be flexible and willing to change. Realize that you are the problem.

    Pros

The talent and diversity are unmatched. Education opportunities abound through MOOCs and traditional settings. Numerous career advancement opportunities.

    Cons

Stress to perform. Pay could be better.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work. Stay the course to shift to higher value.

    Pros

It was OK but I wouldn't do it again, I don't think. There was too much blue everywhere.

    Cons

I have better things to do with my time than do what I did when I did what I did at IBM.

    Pros

    Cons

    No raises

    Advice to Management

Too many layers of management, they need to trim from the top down.

    Pros

Many smart, earnest people work and mentor there. I worked on very interesting projects that helped move my career forward

    Cons

Absolutely no promotional or monetary advancement. Worked for years with no promotion. When I left my manager had no idea, didn't even know my rank. I left for a huge raise elsewhere for a job that actually has less responsibility. It's clear that executive management is de-investing in the US work force, and I could never reccomend to any one.

    Advice to Management

Fire the C-Suite, clean out the board and start over. Really there is nothing that any one below VP has power to enact so I decline to give advice to line management.
