Good place to start out. But found the top-down nature stifling

Software Engineer (Former Employee) Washington, DC

    ProsBrand. Stability. Exposure.

ConsFocused on utilization rates instead of innovation and productivity.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't just give lip service to work/life balance. Focus more on delivering successful project versus just making the sale. Attract and retain talent.

    Resource actions aplenty.

Senior Project Manager (Former Employee) Washington, DC

ProsExcellent customers look for IBM GBS to provide state of the art technology solutions. IBM develops excellent proposals with details on who, how and what will be delivered. Upon award of contracts, IBM looks for other than bid individuals to work the engagement.

ConsCustomers are provided with numerous employees that are not prepared to provide the service or solution that was proposed. Business Analysts typically have limited knowledge of the customer environment and even less knowledge of IBMs process and procedures.

Advice to Senior ManagementDo not bid opportunities that you do not have the proper resources to staff.

Good place to start your career

    Marketing (Former Employee) Washington, DC

ProsIBM was a great place for training and professional development. The managers were trained in their area of expertise and some had additional human resources training. Worldwide the talent pool was impressive and the work exciting.

ConsYou can get lost in a place where nobody knows you. There were a few caring individuals but most people were busy staying on career track. The place is best for those starting not finishing a career.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet personal; the global voice and color of talent is changing worldwide
