I worked at ICICI Bank full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Salary is comparable or some times even better then the industry. English medium employment (No absure in hindi like HDFC Bank)

    Cons

Retail banking is hard manual labor. May be company is not at fault. But any way, you cannot make your mark felt without being very tough task master with your subordinates. Work pressure will make you do mis-selling, but company will not own you when you get caught by the regulators. Hence, you are like mercenaries, who cannot point back to there hirer if caught.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bring some life to the people in the grind. You may be raking in most of the moolah, but at least create good working condition and some joy of the poor laboureres in the branch whom you lovingly call assistant managers and above.

Great learning experience, involvement with seniors in discussions, leadership is encouraged, some of the assignments had been very innovative.

    Cons

I worked at ICICI Bank full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The kind of work one gets to handle at the bank is exceptional for someone who wants to be involved in different things from day one.

    Cons

Bad bosses. Bosses spoil the bank with their lazy and over-the-top attitude. My boss used to play favorites with the boys he smoked and partied with after office. It was unfair but unfortunately nobody cared at the top. If you're nice, you're bound to be taken advantage of.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Team leads and group heads should be mature enough to handle teams. Even though they handle 2-3 people, they feel like they have become global celebrities. There must be a chinese wall between bosses and subordinates. Socialising with your reportees should be banned. And if bosses do socialise, they must do so with the entire team.
