    Pros

nice building. ok salary but you can make twice as much in Boston.

    Cons

Management into playing favorites. They tell you one thing and expect something totally different. Your boss might disappear for days leaving you to wonder what to do. Poor communication between management and workers. If you make it past the probationary period youAre probably young, fit and know someone.

    Advice to Management

Make a fair and balanced playing field. Stop backstabbing your employees. Be fair when it comes to age.

I have been working at IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company's got a great mission helping vets, and the facilities are nice and clean. Most of the people actually doing work are nice and helpful, like most Mainers are. The food is pretty good in the new building. You get the supplies you need to do your job, and safety is good.

    Cons

On the inside, it's the worst work/life balance I've seen. They dump work on you without mercy, and expect you to dig your way out alone without help or support. The leaders don't seem to care about how badly they organize it all, even if it makes no logical sense. They have different groups doing the same thing in different wasteful ways, all reporting to different people with different directions. They have so many people who just talk about work, and few who can actually do it. Middle management chases whatever gets political attention for that week, and don't focus on long-term value. Life was better at Bean and Maine Health.

    Advice to Management

Think about how we're organized and get rid of unnecessary inside competition. Stop chasing the next shiny thing and separate long-term and short-term goals, with balance between them. Get new IT and R&D management that can give us systems that actually work together. Subsidize the food based upon company financial performance (instead of having a sign telling us to think about taxes when we compare prices). Cut people who mostly do talking and no actual hands-on work, and use the money to drop the cost of benefits for employees.

I worked at IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. full-time

    Pros

Decent pay, they will hook you with money and compensation. Some employees are nice and friendly.

    Cons

Very cut throat atmosphere, they monitor your breaks very closely and employees constantly tell on each other for very minor infractions to try to move ahead. As I supervisor I was constantly dealing with crap complaints every minute usually because someone took an extra minute to come back form their break. The Manager encourages the negative behavior by asking for reports from the tattle tells ! Minorities are treated unfairly by management. The company is very resistant to change The company is very client oriented and not employee oriented. They will tell you that they are looking out for you and want your feed back and leave you hanging constantly ...

    Advice to Management

Reboot1 start over, cherish your employees don't step all over them. Stop relying on spies to report back to you and rely on the staff you hired to supervise them.

    Pros

Benefits, that is the only pro.

    Cons

Management is horrible all the way from immediate supervisors of specimen processing departments to senior management level. No possibility for promotion unless you're asked and complete unmoral things.

    Advice to Management

Corporate needs to serious revamp their management team at the Memphis lab. They're letting them run it a muck. No business can survive under such operations.

I have been working at IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company is solid. Not likely to get laid off.

    Cons

There is no room for movement unless you and your wife are friends with the right people. They treat their employees horrible and could care less about them. Employees move on that are not very smart but are in the good old boy club. There is also a TON of nepotism in the company.

    Advice to Management

Sometimes treating your employees will make them work harder for you. People don't leave companies, they leave leaders.

    Pros

The business is rock solid because of so little competition in this industry. Thank god for less competition because the company is run so in efficient and disorganized it would fail if there was competition. Truly amazing

    Cons

If you are an older employee at IDEXX you have no opportunity at all for advancement, there is a lot of age discrimination if you are older, As the last post says, they were rather hire some inexperienced young person, instead of hiring someone with years of experience in that specific job. The only part is how do you prove age discrimination I wish I could.

    Advice to Management

Maybe if upper management would get off there high horses, take off their blind folds and see the dysfunction in all the departments because of this philosophy. Stop sitting in your office counting your money take a long hard look at what opportunities you are missing because of age discrimination. Maybe have some of the multiple HR people check into it you will be surprised how often this is happening. It is very non-motivational to apply for a job where you meet every qualification listed with years of experience and you don't even get an interview, pretty sad.

I have been working at IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

IDEXX Lab is health care technology company, in my eyes it could be great, what is missing is vision and employee who qualify to do that job. discrimination is in full practice, the managers they will tell you IDEXX polices does not tolerate any discriminatory acts. on the contrary. the managers and supervisors are the one infusing the discriminatory acts 100%.

    Cons

A company with a lot employment opportunity, with very little focus on minorities employees. the company managers and supervisor Ares related each other husbands and wife's or nephews and nieces. I worked 7 years I was getting raise only $0.25 cent yearly. the managers and supervisors will have meeting how they can manipulate IDEXX employees, the meting isn't how talented employee to advance. it is how they can use them and get credit from hire up like the CEO.

    Advice to Management

The managers advice is, you are hiring employee who are lacking the education or the talent needed to do the job. for investors I have advise with this rate hiring only family member. the company will be doomed. soon or later. decimation is in fully practiced from managers dawn to supervisors all the way dawn to individual employee. start firing managers and supervisors..... clean your books.

I have been working at IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Can't think of one but the poor common down to the earth people left behind in the Idexx haze of unneeded stress due to poor management, culture and business model is the companies only asset.

    Cons

In the modern era it amazed me in how the worker bees are poorly treated and paid. It's a modern version of an American sweatshop. Everyone has one leg in one leg out looking for a job because of the poor culture & pay which means no one cares and only put's 50-75% effort to the task which causes a number of other issues for the company.

    Advice to Management

Consider a traditional business model, spend time with the common man / woman employee to see what the common denominator is of your poor mid level management and how they are destroying what morale is left.
