IDT Client Services in Woodcliff Lake, NJ:   (Past Employee - 2007)

Pros

Compensation, Good Location, Not requiring advanced degrees for certain positions allows entry level employees a chance to gain useful experience

Company culture mixed with religious culture. As with many companies, politics is an issue here.

Advice to Senior Management

Stick to business at hand and leave the religion for temples and churches. Concentrate on growing the business and offering employees solid paths to career advancement and enrichment.

IDT Anonymous in Newark, NJ:   (Past Employee - 2008)

Pros

if you are orthodox jewish you will fit in. also, some of the divisions are very innovative. the scheduling is truly flexible, in a way i've never seen before. there are many bright hard-working people there. the company encourages healthy habit in employees, furnishing a gym. commuting to newark is easy on public transportation.

Cons

preference shown for the orthodox people. also, lately there is not much financial stability. the company has a recent record of undertaking ventures in many different industries about which they don't know much. they've been taken advantage of. management overestimates its ability jump into an area unprepared.

Advice to Senior Management

keep up with the cost cutting and increase the focus on the parts of the business which can make money.

IDT Finance in Newark, NJ:   (Past Employee - 2007)

Pros

I liked all my coworkers at IDT.
Nice view of the NYC skyline from the stairwell.
The Reagan quote plastered high on the wall in the foyer:
"America is too big for small dreams"

Cons

Whole departments seemed to get moved every couple of months
The fourth floor deli does not settle well in the belly - yet I kept going back. Go figure.

Advice to Senior Management

I hope you find the next Net2Phone but time seems to be running out

IDT Investor Relations Director in Newark, NJ:   (Past Employee - 2008)

Pros

Entrepreneurial environment where new businesses are constantly popping up. If you can latch onto the right project at the right time there is the opportunity advance and carve out a piece of the pie. Great work/life balance - most people have families and don't work much after normal business hours.

Cons

The company has no clear strategy for growth or profitability. Most business units are just trying to keep projects in play so they can stay employed. the cash drain has slowed but things are still pretty precarious. The company will have to start generating free cash flow soon or find a source of funding.

Advice to Senior Management

Lock yourselves in a conference room until you figure this thing out.
