I worked at IESI full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Solid industry with plenty of work. Company has an aggressive growth model. Good employee benefits for industry. Lots of work hours for rank and file. Corporately restructuring to update and add standards with supporting systems.

    Cons

Driven and valued by excessively aggressive performance & spending budgets. Capital truck & equipment budget for district not realized. Overworking supervisors and rank & file (too many hours). Difficult to find time for training. Recruiting problems - sufficent technical experience and willingness to work second shift and required hours. Overall area & district management instability. Growing pains as new corporate management, standards, systems and direction being put into place.

    Advice to Management

Watch out - losing the local flavor.

I have been working at IESI full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits even for the low man on the totem pole.

    Cons

Supervisors talk down to you like you're a retard, tension in the workplace, incompetence at every level. You are a number to IESI corporate.

    Advice to Management

I would advise the management to step down from their thrones and learn some respect. This used to be a great company to work for until IESI took over. Now, instead of working for a boss who is a trusted member of the community and a small business owner, you are working for a faceless corporation which truly considers you to be a number. The efficiency of this company has bottomed out since IESI took over. My pay went down, my hours got longer and more irregular, and people stopped treating each other with respect. The customer also suffers when this happens, because they never get their box drops and pickups on time. I often hear complaints about their pricing as well.

    Pros

Growing company, Industry that is ressession proof. There are many good people that work at IESI. It can be a fast paced environment.

    Cons

The company is becoming less decentralized and there are many managers and executives that are being taken from competing companies that dont have the philosophical ideals that the company was founded upon.
